Title: Making Mech Cable - What Solder temp and tip to use for the usb connectors?
Post by: dman777 on Wed, 22 April 2020, 20:54:35
I am going to try and make my own mech cable. For soldering the wires to the usb plug, what is the recommended tip type and also what is a good temp to use?

General rule, get the wire tinned and hot, touch it to where it's going and heat it just long enough to get it to flow.

This works with pretty much anything, don't worry too much about the temp, your goal is always to use as little as you can.
