Hello Everyone!
I honestly do not know what it was that drew me into this hobby, but I know it started when I was looking into getting a new keyboard for my first PC build back in 2015. I ended up going with a Corsair mechanical keyboard with Cherry Blues and after using it for 4 years wanted something better. I ended up stumbling upon r/mechanicalkeyboards somehow and fell in love. I have now built my first mech (a handwired 60% in a walnut case hand made by me :D ) along with a Discipline keyboard from CFTKB for my wife (I have another kit on pre-order for myself).
I am excited to see where this new hobby takes me and just hope that my wallet is able to sustain it LOL.

Hey, welcome to the hobby! Sounds like you're off to a good start already handwiring a 60% & building a Discipline. How did those builds go for you? Anyways you're in the right spot to find out more about the hobby & what ICs/GBs are currently going on. I'd suggest also checking out https://deskthority.net/ (https://deskthority.net/) & https://www.keebtalk.com/ (https://www.keebtalk.com/). Deskthority is more focused on vintage boards & has the best wiki for info on them & switches, then Keebtalk has an awesome community that is very chill & mature.

The hand-wired board went surprisingly well, I did mess up the case a little bit (I drilled the mounting holes too close to the edge of the wood case and blew a couple out) but its working great and is my primary keyboard at work. The Discipline build was my first go at through hole soldering so there were a few mistakes made, but it works and my wife is happy with it and that's all that really matters.
