I find R5 overly sculpted and I actually like my Esc key almost flat (OEM and Cherry profile).
Hence I think R5 is a waste of money they should've just kept using R4 twice which is perfectly fine and also cheaper.
R5 isn't too common but say in the instance of KAT profile I'd much rather they use R4 twice.

I guess I'll find out, should I choose to open 9009 R3.

i dont like r5

Hmmmm I think that's a bit different since it's the bottom row. I think when I said R5 I meant the Esc and Function row.
I guess some companies count from top and some count from bottom lol.

Maybe it's just me, but is it R0 that you actually hate?

I find Row F and other high-profile keys to be too wobbly.
Row A is divine, though.
-
R0 is the row were F keys are,R5 is the row were the space bar is.
-
My first board was Costar made (Filco, Das Keyboard, WASD Keyboard, CM Storm Rapid Fire.....etc) so I kind of just went with Costar numbering.
For Costar row 1 is spacebar and row 4 is function row.
But yeah I think I like the current 112344 layout.

I got some OG R5's here and i dislike them feels very unnatural for me they do look cool though not gonna lie.
-
Also they hurt layout compatibility (e.g. if you have an R4 1u Fn key you can use it next to the Shift key or on bottom row, while if you do R0/R5 you need two separate Fn keys to cover those).
