Hello Geekhackers and Mech friends,
It’s Team Mechlovin’, back with another GB. For those who haven’t heard of us, we have previously run many successful group buys for PCBs and Plates in the past and received very positive feedback from our end users.
In this GB, we’d like to offer the KANU, a PCB & Plate solution for the Percent Canoe V1, which is one of the most popular 65% boards on the market. Similar to our previous products, the Kanu PCB is programmable via QMK and VIA, while adding split space layout support. The added layouts are also reflected in the design of the plates, which come available in FR4 and anodised aluminium.
WHAT’S AVAILABLE FOR THIS BUY?
Kanu PCB - compatible with the Percent Canoe V1 keyboard.
Kanu plates - available in FR4 and anodised aluminium (Silver, Grey, Black)

SHIPPING
Shipping will be handled by my trusted proxy with USPS tracking for US-based buyers; and Standard Post (trackable) for ROW. You can also choose EMS express service, but it has been pretty unreliable as of late (things may improve when these are ready to ship). Shipping costs are quoted in the GB form.
We’d like to advance our biggest thanks to people who have been giving us their trust and support of various forms in the last 8 months or so. We feel extremely privileged to be able to provide solutions while maintaining our modest operation, especially during these difficult times. It’s been one hell of a year with non-stop craziness on all fronts, and we’re just grateful to be here and play our small part in this wonderful community.
THANK YOU HAVE A GOOD ONE!

Sorry it was a misinformation which has been corrected. I can confirm that the plates fit both Alu and PC version of the board :thumb:

I guess I don't have to make one anymore...

I guess I don't have to make one anymore...
Nooo, definitely still make one. For selfish reasons (lol), I live in Germany and get hit with crazy customs fees on everything from outside the EU. Also, these don't have bluetooth or underglow :)
Regardless, I will probably still buy one of these just in case :)
Edit: I just added it up, it's like 83 euros just for one PCB. And paying customs is a certainty in Germany.

I ordered. Please check.

One PCB with shipping to Germany is $70. Maybe you added a plate in your calculation? ;D

Add at least 21% in tax :p

Make them make them.
Taxes and custom fees kill these kind of GBs, so EU would have great option from you :thumb:
-
Edit: Sorry, this message was too off-topic. Support this awesome project!
-
Why is there so much fuss about EU taxes? This applies to every GB that doesn’t work with proxies.
-
Ahh, I didn't mean to make a fuss. I was just responding to maarten saying he might not make his own version. Sorry, I legit didn't mean to derail!
-
Anyone know if either this plate or PCB might fit the Fanoe knockoff version?

I haven't come across a Fanoe, so to stay on the safe side of things, I wouldn't count on that.

4 days to go ;D

Less than 24 hours until the form is closed. We'll take some time to sort through the orders and start sending out weekly updates via email and on our Discord server.

The form has been closed. I'm sending out the first email update shortly :thumb:

any updates on this?
We post regular updates on our Discord server. The fulfillment has been pushed back as we had to discard a whole batch of misproduced PCBs. Shipping's expected to start next week.
-
ah, you used to send email updates, I now see why, joined discord ✌️

I've had issues with Gmail recognising my email updates as spams and hence blocking them. I'll look into it and try again soon.

I hate to be that guy, but it's right there in the rules https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=88717.0 (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=88717.0) I don't really use discord and having to hunt around for updates on various stuff is a big pain in the butt
- geekhack.org is a community of keyboard enthusiasts and not simply an advertising platform for keyboard-related sales. Thus we request that any group buy organizers who post their group buy threads in this section also provide updates in the thread they have started until the conclusion of the group buy, even if updates are also posted somewhere else. Group buy threads made here are for group buy progress discussion as well as open discussion of any quality control issues. If a group buy organizer decides to provide an off-site instant message chat option for faster order support (for example Discord), any such communication needs to be optional when it comes to non-sensitive* order information.

These guys are legit and they're running a solid GB. Hyped to finally build my canoe :thumb:

Thank you for your criticism. It has always been our way of running GBs to focus on providing updates via emails for that "personal touch". We've been slowly moving to Discord recently due to the increasing amount of work and the fact that, as I mentioned, Gmail sometimes identifies our emails as spams. We do update our Geekhack GB threads, but mostly with important ones like delays and shipping notices. It's not that we consider it a mere advertising platform, it means much more than that to us.
We do understand the need to adhere to community practices, and will reflect accordingly on ours going forward.

Update: just received the finished PCBs. We'll be in full swing this weekend with the QC and start shipping GB orders out next week.

Shipping has begun, and around 30% of the orders have been shipped. We're working towards 70% by the end of the week and the rest will go out by mid next week. Here are some pics of the final products:

Got my Kanu and it's working great so far!
But VIA doesn't work. I also tried to build it from source but there's no rules.mk file for the pcb which enables VIA.
And adding the rules.mk file manually doesn't help eighter.
Edit:
Nevermind, just rebuilt the via keymap with the manually added rules.mk and its working now!
Still doesn't work with the hex from caniusevia.com though.

Thank you for the feedback! We've found the issue with the VIA firmware on CanIUseVIA and will fix it ASAP. The pre-loaded VIA firmware does work and soon will the downloadable one.

I got 2 pcb and 1 fr4 plate looking from this GB but sold my Canoe! Looking to sell @ GB cost.

Are you going to do another run of those pcbs?
I'm trying to buy Canoe r1 first, but I would like to buy a pcb+plate too.

Hi, I'm also in the market for a pcb and plate combo. You mentioned that as an in-stock item, is there a website or do I need to contact you directly? Thanks in advance.

New vs Old

The sound is a lot better but I also added a plate foam and I think these U4T switches are better than the Invyr Holy Pandas
Didn't know i had to break off those extra pieces on the PCB till after i soldered. Why didn't they just come removed?
-
I love how the FR4 plate changed the feel of the keyboard (using Zilents).
What an improvement...
-
Thanks a lot guys! The outer frames are there to provide extra protection during shipping. Especially in the case of the Kanu PCB with its protruding USB connector.

Hi! Sorry if this is a dumb question, but would these be compatible with the polycarbonate Canoe at all?
