Been cutting my own hair since ~16 years old

Stylish? What for. I have a job where it doesn't matter and any female with half a brain is not outside so there's no-one to impress. Besides, any hair looks crap when you take off a sweaty bike helmet (https://cdn.geekhack.org/Smileys/solosmileys/laugh.gif)
Barbers re-open this weekend, I will not be visiting one anytime soon even though my hair is annoying.
-
I cut my own hair now. I did my 2nd haircut just recently. 3 more more haircuts and I've paid for my clippers.
-
Like absyrd, started to shave my head years ago.
I'm really lucky living on an island without any active cases, barbers, shops etc are open here.

I got a haircut in Ohio a little while ago. While Michigan was still closed down, I just popped over the border to Sylvania, Ohio and went to a hair place. $8. Then I went to a restaurant. That was nice!
-
My wife finally made me get one on Friday. Feels good. My hair hadn't been that long since high school.
-
Where? Literally every salon in my state is still closed.
-
Just drive to another state! Duh!

i have not been to get an hair cut in 2 years... my hairs grow slowly and i like them long, i was planing on going this year but if it can't happen i will not be that bothered and anyhow i am not stylish at all, long hairs and starting to bald at 25...
-
I seriously figured out how to cut my own hair because of this bloody virus. I haven't had people pointing and laughing (yet).
-
All the salon closed, so I cut hair by myself ...
-
Went four hours to my parents over a weekend and got my hair cut, feels really nice to not have half a mullet anymore
-
starting to bald at 25...
Gotta eat ur veggies Yui.

well i have not eaten anything but veggies last week but 95% of my family on both side lose their hairs young so i would put that on genetics more than not enough veggies :) i always ate quite a lot of them.
(i am on a tp4 diet right now because i do not have meat and want to make some space before going to the store, not going to take risks just for meat)

I've also been cutting my own hair since 16, and, before that, my mom or occasionally my grandma cut my hair, so I have literally never paid for a haircut in my life. I don't understand why men with short hair need someone else to do it for them unless they have some super elaborate hair style (which is never the case with anyone I know). With electric clippers, just cut 1/2 inch on the sides, 1 inch on the top, and clean up the back without a spacer while using two mirrors. Even using scissors for a longer hairstyle isn't hard; it just takes longer because it requires a bit of layering in order not to look like poop. Maybe this situation will give people the opportunity to learn.

This is so stupid, you are part of the problem

Make sure you are not pulling your hair into a tight ponytail. The tension on the roots of the hair can cause hair line recession.

i did it a while back but did not liked it so i stopped, i let me hairs free, but part of my problem may be the tearing my hairs when i am stressed out, and lately it happens quite a lot and with the mask the beard is now safe.

baldness is scary  :'(

I do not understand why though, at worse you end up looking like st IGNUcius (Richard Stallman). although i know that i am the aim of all those keeps ads i still do not understand why that product even exits
-
been scared about cutting the tops but i've been doing the sides. i've been cleaning it up every 2-4 weeks. i take a #3 guard and cut everything down liberally. i then take off the guard and trace a line an inch and a half from the bottom of the sides, conforming to the roundedness of my ears and cut off all the hair below. then i blend it and voila
-
Yeah got a haircut, 1 inch off 2 weeks ago. Apparantly my family likes it medium length and in a ponytail

The easy way.

I heard skotch tape is popular too

It’s “Y’ALL”, a contraction of you and all, not a contraction of ya and will!
I bought a Wahl clipper at Price Club in 1988, and haven’t paid for a haircut since.

Grammar is the general consensus, Things has/is/will changeding.

Wrong. General consensus of the WELL EDUCATED, perhaps. If you aren’t a native Texan, maybe y’all should use your own dialect, and pervert it to your whim.

Ne1 tried one of those curved hair clippers ? Does it help / make things easier ?
-
I've been giving myself haircuts. The first one was horrible, the second one was alot better.
-
Got one last month, so I'm due to get another. So far where I go has been good about how they are handling this, but of course the rest of the state I'm in hasn't been lol.
-
Now with the WHO info on Airborne spreading of covid, how it can linger in the air for HOURS. IDK guys, Don't think I'll ever go to the salon again. They're always small, they have high traffic of different unique users throughout the day, they almost certainly have airconditioning, they have fuzzy hairs/dust/ sprays / chemicals that make people cough and sneeze.
-
Salons should make house calls honestly. Why should that service be just for rich people?
-
Gas and time. Would you pay for fuel and travel time, and also setup for carrying the gear into your house and back out again?
My guess is that would double the price of a male haircut, at least, maybe triple.
-
In the city I live there are a rising number of homeless folks downtown. One day I seen a man with clippers cutting hair right on the sidewalk. It looked like an outdoor barber shop with a line of people waiting in line.

Hrrrm.. outdoor def helps at least for mens cut.. DIY seems to be the route to go though. It's plainly not safe.

I could see paying upwards of about $150 4x a year if that became the norm.

That's pretty expensive. For mens cut I don't think it'd cost that much, prolly doable for $50 per cut.

A salon cut is already $50-60 not including the tip which is another $20. If they are coming to your house (and they better bring me coffee or a milkshake or something too) it'll cost at least double that. $150 is realistic, but people would cut down their annual haircuts from every two weeks to every 3-4 months.
It's a totally feasible business plan. Set up in a couple git hub cities like SF/NY and get a network of already out-of-work hairdressers. Easy business plan filling an existing void with a product people want.
-
More I think on it the more it makes sense. If someone jumped on this now it could set a precedent, just as rideshares have before. Have financial milestones in place, promote it as a needed service which I believe right now it is, emphasis safety maybe even partner with a manufacturer to get the hair dressers discounted filter masks and maybe customers get small discounts if they get their hair cut outside. Marketing would be easy, and even if we only retain a fraction of the initial customers who try the service out of novelty that's already an instant base we don't have to go looking for. Everyone wants and needs a hair cut, but right now are unable to access safe options to get one.

I haven’t had a haircut since November. I don’t plan to.
-
My buddy luckily does house cuts so thats how I managed to prevent myself from looking like a hobo...lol
-
My work building has a barber shop in it, so I've been keeping the fresh cut. But not when I was teleworking though, I was flat out bummin it then :p
-
in '89 when I went to college and had to pay for a haircut (I guess my parents had paid for them all along...) and I realized I'd just handed someone the last of my beer money...I've had long hair for ~30 years now. I get it trimmed a couple times a year these days, and I'd just had it trimmed in Jan...I'd like to get my stylist to dye it purple again, the color has faded, but length is not an issue for me.
-
Why don’t you get some scissors and clippers, Hippie, and do it yourself? You can even dye your own hair!

don't really want purple fingers nor a purple shower stall...sometimes paying professionals really is worthwhile
-
I just buzzed my own head for the first time in my life the other day. I havn't had a haircut since before COVID started. Feels good man.
-
I get my hair cut once a month. Usually the last week of the month.
-
I let my wife (never cut any hair ever) at mine about two months into lock down. Could have gone much worse; I wasn't ashamed to leave the house at least, though I wasn't in any case.
-
It's hot and I have too much hair. Not really up for registering my name and address to risk being stuck home because some numpty failed to follow safety procedures which is a requirement of getting it cut in a shop but don't want burnt stripes on my head from shaving it myself and wearing a bike helmet either. Guess it's going to grow some more then...

Men's haircuts, if not more than a couple of inches long (and you aren't going for a particular sculpted look), are pretty easy. You won't go too far wrong if you more or less cut every hair to the same length.
-
Ya will haircut too.
