got mine today......so loving it.
feels like you are typing on a lump of titanium studded with hardened steel nuggets. super!
who said "dont be a ****, buy a Topre" - right on, do it.
only question is.....what next???????
-
I've been debating on getting this. I kind of wanted a tenkeyless version, but it doesn't look like it'll happen anytime soon. plus, this is cheaper

I'm trying really hard with EK to find if they can provide one with Gold fonts instead of dark grey.
And BTW... The 87U has been rebranded (to I don't know what, but it's not called RealForce) and that's why EK cannot get them anymore.

Gold on Black would look very nice!
Very reluctant to believe that EK could get them but I am open to surprises haha.
87U was rebranded? That is news to me... maybe that is why it is only for sale in Korea now.

That's what Brian at EK wrote me this morning.

1/ I don't see why rebranding would make them unavailable for resasle
2/ Are there any really good closeup pics of gold-on-black? Unreadable keycaps are one of the only things keeping me from fulling embracing the black Topres.
3/ The thread about the 91UY clearly shows black on yellow keycaps. Most keycap posts I see are all about Cherry switches, but other caps must be available for Topre switches, no? If I could get a set of PBT caps that are something-readable on black for ~$40 - problem solved.

Noppoo uses the same (http://geekhack.org/showpost.php?p=305753&postcount=40) laser method on their keycaps. This is clearly inferior to dye sublimation.
The gold font is actually just the color of the plastic after being
burned with a laser.

Please post some Youtube videos of your typing on that keyboard, thank you.

They are ... just not at EK.

Right. But I guess the color of the plastic is not going to wear off over time.

EK's response... Minimum order is 300 units. With my request, 1 down - 299 to go.
I would be curious to know how many clients who bought the invisible grey on black who would have chose the gold on black instead if they knew they were available.
Oh well. Didn't cost a penny to ask.

Me! (if it's just about as durable as black-on-grey).
The Vader look is cool and all, and hasn't caused me huge problems at work. Home, OTOH, is darker and people other than me type there.

I want the orange keycaps! Awesome...

I don't like Gold on Black but White on Black would be more my style and I would rather have that for "giving" to people. I would think that black on grey would be more of a problem for people who have poor eye sight, rather than any personal taste issues because I actually like it. But if you're talking about a different color, then white on black always.
