Title: Beamspring replacement parts
Post by: headphone_jack on Sat, 29 August 2020, 00:34:00
Recently, I've been trying to restore an incredibly rusted IBM 3101. Most of the key stems and all of the external springs have completely rusted away, as well as the rubber O rings breaking off. I have found replacement springs on AliExpress that are very similar, but I still don't know where I would get the O rings or replacement stems. I was considering having a friend resin print replacement stems, but I would prefer to have metal stems as they are sturdier, and would more closely resemble the original sound of the switches. I also considered laser cutting or CNC routing metal stems, but that would be costly and I don't know where or how to start getting a custom order. If anyone could help me find either of these replacement parts, that would be very much appreciated.
