Title: Is the Compaq RT101 keyboard Mechanical?
Post by: Tigarion on Fri, 25 September 2020, 14:09:43
I've been looking at some Compaq products recently, when I came across the Compaq RT101 keyboard, but I can't tell if it's mechanical or not. Anybody know?

No, it's a rubber-dome keyboard made for Compaq by NMB. Very dirty also.

A good auction should have a picture of the label on the back side, so that you could look up the model number or at least FCC ID to search for.

I used to live and work near rawko, depending on what route I took I passed it on the way to the office.

They are keenly aware of the value of old keyboards and you are not likely to find a bargain there like I did about 8 years ago when I bought 4 IBM Model F 122-key terminals (completely trashed, filthy, and incomplete) for $85.

NMB Rubber Dome,
Without seeing the bottom or with keys removed it's hard to say if it has sliders or not (fccid will say memb if it has sliders). With sliders is actually really good, comparable with many mechanicals. That one even if it has sliders is pretty old and beat.
