Title: Keyboard w/ all keys the same size (including space bar)
Post by: Rusty Shackleford on Fri, 09 October 2020, 16:12:32
hi everyone,

my reasons for wanting  the xd75 (or really any keyboard in which all keys are the same size):

-the spacebar takes up 5 keys' worth of space, but I think it only needs 1.  My plan is
to put the 4 arrows into the 4 extra spaces I will gain.  This will enable me to keep
my fingers on home row more often, because I find myself in many "ctrl shift arrow
highlight" situations.

questions about the xd75 (or really any keyboard in which all keys are the same size):

-Do I need to do my own soldering and/or setup?  If so, is there any way to avoid this or have
somebody else do it?

-Does it connect via usb?  If not, is it safe to assume that it can connect to any
random computer?

I also want to avoid needing to move my arm to and from a mouse.  That desire gives rise to
to these questions:

-Would I be able to use it in conjunction with a stand alone touchpad? (which I can reach with my thumbs while staying on home row)

   or

-Would I be able to have a TrackPoint on my xd75?  If not, are there any others that
would be able to achieve this while also maintaining that all keys are the same size?
