Title: 7mm Trackball MX Switch Daughterboard
Post by: Ariamella on Sun, 18 October 2020, 05:22:18
I was fooling around in kicad today and made this small board to allow the 7mm trackball by BTO https://bit-trade-one.co.jp/selfmadekb/adtb7m/ (https://bit-trade-one.co.jp/selfmadekb/adtb7m/) to be connected to an Arduino via a level shifter. It comes with through-hole positions for MX and Alps switches as well as for rotary encoders and can be placed in the position of a switch or rotary encoder and connected with diode legs or whatever. If connected using the pins for an encoder, it allows for the use of the encoder A, B and GND connections for the serial interface of the trackball. If anyone is interested, I can give it a proper name and upload the files to Github.

A trackball in place of a switch?  That's genius, assuming they're actually good.

It's definitely not gonna be as good as a mouse or larger trackball but hey I had some spare time so I made this for fun haha

As homing bump of key caps, the module is little bit, around 5mm taller than I think.
