I don’t think the elephant in the room is that it looks like a RAMA tray, it’s that you’re advertising it as affordable and the price already increased!!

Sound concerns. I got a quote from the manu before the results of the interest check form on r/mm (rookie mistake). I was optimistic for the MOQ numbers but realised that its not a good idea to set expectations so high (or low price) so early on. After I receive the prototypes, I will be getting an updated quote and share MOQ.
On a side note, I meant affordable as compared to what is currently available in the market. My apologies if it was misleading.

See ya on Simon's stream! ;)
Expecting newspaper bonk or **** face. This is definitely an early IC with no proper renders or a prototype.
See you there!

definitely interested if the price stays close to $30

where are other popular shapes such as diamond, or triangle, or even the rhombicosidodecahedron?
-
Ha, I wanted a RAMA tray but couldn't justify the $50 tag on it - ended up getting some metal bowls that looked decent enough, with snail mail shipping from CN for $3 each 😳!!

I just use this.

It's $8.60 on Amazon

Not trying to be a downer, but this seems kinda pointless.
I get you have an idea and you want to produce it, but at the moment there are many trays very very similar to this on the market. I could order a 10$ tray off of amazon and get it two days from now instead of waiting weeks and even months for the same product in a GB. I like trays and am interested, but I suggest giving something that sets it apart from other designs.
EDIT: maybe some unique colors would be nice

The difference between this / RAMA tray and a simple metal tray or bowl from Amazon or Aliexpress is the weight, density, and shape.

I got these good looking metal bowls, but they're usually either made of thin aluminum or they are hollow double-walled aluminum. I could see the appeal for a solid aluminum block CNC'd to a tray, as it would be more dense feeling. The difference between a CNC'd metal tray like this and a typical metal tray from Amazon would be comparable to the difference of between a Drop Alt and a $500+ custom. Not really useful, but cool to have. Also, something i was looking for while picking was that I wanted something that didn't look like a bowl - the RAMA tray looks more like a tray, and not a bowl. A lot of the alternatives look like dog food bowls.
btw idk if you'll really be able to get 'mirror polished stainless steel' CNC'd for that cheap

To address a few comments about why would someone want this compared to cheaper alternatives, the main reason would be for aesthetic and quality. In terms of function, there are many other household items that can serve the same purpose as these trays. I think the analogy mentioned in the quote was very well said and is a perfect response to the function vs form argument.

The difference between this and the keyboard analogy is that I wouldn't put a tray of screws on my desk 24/7.....
If you plan to treat it as a decoration rather than a practical thing, then the designs in the renders are way too simple to warrant the 20$ price. Maybe add some patterned engravings or something that makes it look high quality. But then it might look like a pretty ashtray...glwic

SO MANY PEOPLE are saying you should just buy a $3 screw tray from Amazon but they out here spending hundreds or even thousands on keyboards when you can literally just buy this.[attach=1]
