Title: my sketchy craigslist engineering sample cpu died...
Post by: Sniping on Fri, 20 November 2020, 13:10:58
welp, the day finally came. was a total headache to troubleshoot because i tried a bunch of other things before narrowing it down to the cpu, but i ended up bringing it into my local computer store for a diagnostic and they confirmed it. been about 5 years now, it was a 6th gen cpu back when it was the latest.

Oh dear, was it an unlocked example that you used to it's full potential or just really bad luck?  A dead CPU is very hard to decide on as it's the last thing you expect so I hope you went to the store before buying any parts to troubleshoot.

Which Ryzen will it be replaced with?

actually a 6th gen intel cpu. it was locked core and i originally bought it because it was just cheaper than anything else i could find. ended up biting me in the back but someone just sold me an i3 for 40 bucks so i ain't mad.

This one time, I became a scammer on ebay and I didn't even realize.

A locked ES?  I thought the whole point of them was that they are unlocked and fun, sketchy indeed.

What I meant was it's not advisable to throw money at a 4 gen old motherboard especially when the RAM will work in the latest and greatest.  $40 is not much though so fair enough :)
