Post by: nilax on Wed, 02 December 2020, 01:14:53
There is not much information out there on comparison on plastic materials for cases mainly ABS and polycarbonate what are the benefits for these materials builds that are budget or light so i can take them on the go info is scarce so anyone like to help me ?

ABS is opaque, PC is transparent. ABS is more impact resistant and PC more resistant to heat
overall both are plastic and will not make a huge difference other than aesthetic, maybe a slightly higher sounding ping on PC given that it is slightly harder but the case will not be the main factor in that.
although i will be clear, i have tried neither, i am just talking from a material point of view, the shape of it will have much more effect on the sound than the type of plastic.

Treeleaf has tried both and can tell you that ABS produces  a bassier sound
ABS happens to be softer and less strong than PC.

Bear in mind that even with just ABS, that's a mixture of different plastics, and depending on the ratio you're going to get harder, softer, more or less brittle plastic, with different properties. That changes again due to thickness and texture. And then there's inclusions, like fiber reinforced plastic.
