Hi all,
First I just want to say hello! I've been lurking these forums for quite some time as my Logitech G11 (the G is for garbage) started crapping out. After reading the abundance of information available here, I decided to go for the Filco Majestouch with Cherry brown switches, with NKRO. It arrived today and after a few hours of typing on this thing (I'm knee-deep in thesis writing), I'm in love. The feel is so much better than any keyboard I've used before.
Anyway, introductions aside, for the first time today I had a weird issue while browsing a webpage, where I clicked a link and the new page scrolled rapidly to the bottom of the page. When I went back to the other page, it, too, was scrolling rapidly to the bottom. Every page, every window... And no idea why. After about a minute it stopped on it's own, but now I'm wondering wtf caused it to happen.
I'm not at all sure it has anything to do with the keyboard, but since this keyboard is the only change to my system, I have to consider it. Has anyone heard of any issues like this? It could also be my mouse (very old Razer diamondback), but I've never had any issues like that before with it.
I think what might help my diagnosis is if someone could direct me to a program that monitors the input to my computer, and shows me what's being pressed. Does anything like this exist?
Sorry for the wall of text (I honestly can't help enjoying typing more than I have to on this new keyboard). Thanks in advance for any help you can give!
Cheers. :)
Edit: I should mention that I've hacked my registry so that "Page Up" and "Page Down" control volume (I never use them anyway), and "End" mutes volume. Therefore, if PageDown was stuck in some way (which probably wouldn't happen since these switches all feel awesomely springy), it wouldn't have any effects on my page scrolling. Thanks again!

Was your non-mouse hand on the keyboard? I've found that when something like this happened to me in the past, there was a simple explanation. My other hand was on the spacebar and the switch was so light I didn't realize it.
-
spacebar/pg up/pg down wouldn't cause a 'scrolling' problem... Sounds like the down arrow might be sticky. Try tapping it a bunch, I've found that the cherry switches in filcos are smoother etc after breaking in for awhile.

So....have you tried hitting the space bar on a long web page before?

anybody knows a usb sniffer working on windows seven, that would allow me to know what my usb peripherals send to my comp*? I don't know if that's clear, but I would like to have a software like that
really, I want to know the "raw" data

we should just rename Geekhack to "Filco keyboard support forum".

I thought it was the Topre daters support forum.

No it's an addiction recovery forum, only it works horribly. you come in with a habitual pot smoking habit and you leave doing heroin. only I'm not talking about drugs.

Heroin is far cheaper than keyboards.

Not if you're talking about a Key Tronic! :D

true, but who can stop at one keytronic? ;)

Wow, quite a few responses. Thanks everyone. I used sharpkeys to hack the registry, so assuming I can trust the program I don't think there's anything wrong with the registry. Also, this isn't a slow scroll, like the down arrow produces. This is a very, VERY rapid scroll to the bottom of the page (almost like the auto-scroll function on mouses which allows you to move to the bottom of the page after clicking down the mouse wheel).
Oh well, it's gone now. I'll check out Aquakeytest soon, hopefully if it happens again I can use it to check for what's causing the problem.
Still loving the keyboard though. :)

You seem to consider it the "Filco Trolling Forum" instead of a Forum to help and educate new mechanical keyboard users.
I'm all for educating them on how to fix their broken filcos, actually.
dont blame me for all these 'broken filco, help!' threads, i'm not the one starting them.
You on the other hand, i'd argue, consider it the "blame the users and protect the Filco image" forum. :) That doesnt exactly help them.

Sure adds more value than your lame posts.
you're right, i need a huge lego collection.

that had nothing to do with me, i'm glad to say. He got into some fight with a bunch of geekhackers and went away in a huff. I didnt even know about it till later.

Anyway to the TS, I sort of had this problem with a HHKB while connected to a USB cable.
I believe it's due to the power specifications of the USB as the extra cable length that I connected from my HHKB to the extension USB cable (from my computer) was more than 3 metres long I believe.
It wasn't really chattering but if I typed a word that ends in a 'ut' like 'but', 'shut', 'cute', words would appear like 'uttttttttttttttttttttttttttt' or 'buttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt' and so on.
Try to reenact the error by using through a powered USB hub (connected to mains) or plugging directly into the computer through the cable on the Filco keyboard.

I actually haven't had the issue happen again since I had originally posted this. I'm using the PS/2 adapter to use the PS/2 port on my motherboard with this keyboard, so I don't think any USB power issues would be causing the problems.
Thanks for the advice though everyone, I'm waiting to see if it happens again and will run some input-monitoring software to see what the problem is. Hopefully though, it won't happen again and we all can live happily ever after.

we should just rename Geekhack to "Filco keyboard support forum".
I'm very tempted to buy filcosupportforum.com and just point it to Geekhack. Domains are a couple of bucks nowadays.
