Title: KAT 2u spacebar?
Post by: br4n_d0n on Sat, 02 January 2021, 16:25:12
Anyone know where I can pick up a KAT 2u spacebar? I can temporarily get by with using some numpad keycap from some random cheap set I have, but would prefer one that actually goes with the kit I have

Is there a reason not to use 2.25? 2.25 spacebar and then 1u is possible instead of using 2u 1.25u. Not sure what your layout is though but this is what i imagine.

I have a planck mit like build where I only have room for a 2u spacebar.

Only from KAT GB's. You have to find a GB with a spacebar set and get the 2U from there or try to get one aftermarket on mechmarket or classifieds.

EDIT: https://kbdfans.com/collections/keycaps/products/kat-alpha-pbt-146-40s-ergo-blank-keycaps-set?variant=34430153916555 You can buy it from here but you have to buy the entire 40s kit.

Yeah, I may have to browse around for a while as it's not really worth it to purchase a large kit for just 1 keycap

Which KAT set are you using?  KAT Blanks includes a 2U space bar and sells on r/mechmarket for less than $100.  You should be able to resell the set minus the 2U space bar easily.

I have the KAT Eternal set, but I don't really care at this point as long as it is the right profile for the spacebar being convex and nothing is wrong with it. However, to me the one key is not worth the money and extra hassle of purchasing an entire set at the moment. Now if it was a smaller set for a planck and cheaper then I would look at picking it up, but they only seem to offer a set for normal layouts.
