Title: Anyone have a solution ?
Post by: ichirichi on Mon, 09 August 2010, 14:33:52
Still waiting on my Filco Brownie and in the meantime I have been looking for something to change the volume in Windows 7.  Does anyone use an external control to adjust their volume or is it just me?  When gaming, I often change the volume via the keyboard multimedia keys and I think I am going to severely miss those keys when I use my Filco !

Anyone have any suggestions?

There is a device made by Griffin that you can use to handle those functions.  I can't remember the name, but I am sure someone will chime in a few minutes.

Google says that a griffin volume device is called a Powermate.

Anyhow, I use an Autohotkey script for volume (http://tnl.iamserio.us/files/ahk/vol.ahk).

Thank you very much!

YOU saved me £$£$ in that case :-)
Autohotkey with the following script works great in Windows 7:

Code: [Select]

!PgUp::Send {Volume_Up 1}
!PgDn::Send {Volume_Down 1}

(Alt Page Up/Down) - works even in game mode for Call of Duty 4.

P.s. couldn't get your script to work :( Would love to use it though as I can see there is a volume limit on there possibly?

Maybe it's modern Windows' per-app volume feature, so the method I use doesn't work? Just a guess. I'm still using decade-old XP.

Its the control unit for a Lego injection moulding machine. The IBM golfball is there to add a touch of class.
