Update 5/8
Long time no update, but this project is still active. My vendor recently just built his protos, and we are almost ready to go into a GB. The vendor who will be hosting this is Vala Supply (https://vala.supply/).
As you can see, the images got a fair facelift. There will be two skeleton case offerings, gloss white and matte black plates.
We will be anticipating a max order quantity of 50. Hopefully that's not too optimistic, but that's what I have gathered based on IC metrics.

The Lotus is a 14-column split keyboard with what I have coined as "satellites." These satellites, being the standout feature of the board, connect via a second TRRS jack and into an I2C compatible board to power a key cluster, another rotary encoder, or an OLED. Alternatively, it should be possible to power a mini i2c trackball, but this is as of yet untested.

Features:
- 14 columns with a columnar stagger to match that of the Kyria

- MX and Choc Compatibility

(Choc switches w/ MBK keycaps on the left, MX switches w/ SA blanks on the right)

- Supports up to 2 rotary encoders, 4 when using satellites

- Ortho and ergo kit compatibility

(KAM Little Pilot ortho + OLED satellite)

- Multipurpose hotswap satellites able to handle a multitude of different modules

Typing test:

Current vendor(s): Vala Supply
Current price estimate:
Full kit (comes with PM, all parts needed for assembly + extras) - $90-100
Skeleton kit (comes with plates, PCB only) - $40-45

you should give it a shot, was my first colstagger ortho and didn't give me too much trouble... but it did give me a little bit lol

I really like the satellite concept. Perhaps some sort of 3d printed frames to hold them/angle them up could be doable? Seems like it would add to the modularity of it.
I also recommend amending the IC to include an optional email field for updates.

This is probably going to be my first ortho board as well

Edit: spelling is hard when you're tired lol

I've been working on 3d printed satellite blocks which will be available on a github repo at GB. The board's files will be open source :)

Stop making me want to get a 3d printer now *annoyed panda noises* /s (lol)

In all seriousness though thats awesome that they'd be open source

ACHKSHUALLY it's not ortho sir. This would be classified as a column-staggered layout /nerdrant
