/headscratch..  so this silver mold prevention pellets thing.  Could you just throw silver ingots or jewelry in there ? does that work the same.

You've just reminded me I should probably replace our 1970's dehumidifier or at the very least give it a good dusting. Still works after 40+ years use so..

Just discovered my sill's covered in black mold. In the market for a good dehumidifier.
I've been working next to black mold for 2 years and didn't even know :(
Probably the reason I feel like I have a cold every single morning and constantly feel like I have a hangover even without drink.

By definition a humidifier is a growth medium for mold and who knows what else?

When my kids were small we used them and thoroughly cleaning the filter/element with bleach was a weekly chore, as was replacing it monthly.

Humidifer ≠ dehumidifer. Opposite things. :-þ

I've used ultrasonic humidifiers for years. The tanks have been clear plastic and I've never seen mould, which I think is because they never heat the water.
Got limescale though, which killed my old one by clogging the ultrasonic element (= "core"?), but there are humidifiers with filters for that.

The ultrasonic are also supposedly the most effective. I would get a small one and move it around between rooms.

the same, no but it will have some effect, as will copper, both are "contact poisons", basically if a microorganism touches either it dies, or at least it is how i understand it from what i have ready about 5 years ago, the pellets will have much higher surface area so be much more efficient and silver will not make green deposits everywhere :)
oh and both can be irritants, copper much worse than silver though, and you need to be in direct contact with either for an awfully long time for them to start to attack your skin.
you also technically use hard bar soap, should have a similar effect, if my biology and chemical understanding is not too wrong.

Based on calculations,  Tp4 needs 1.5 Liter per hour input into the system.

That one in the OP photo probably only does ~1 liter/hour.

Could use the house's evaporative system, but  don't want to risk mold in the ducts.
