Title: So what's a fair price ask for these Model Ms?
Post by: ThirdLap on Fri, 13 August 2010, 02:56:29
So I picked up a couple more Ms today.  They're quite clean as-is, but I went ahead and fully disassembled them to do a comprehensive cleaning, and to check the plastic rivets.  It appears that nearly all the rivets are intact on both.

One is a Lexmark Model M, and the other is a (IIRC) regular blue label '93 Model M.  Both have non-removable wires.

I figured I'd put 'em up on here first and let fellow Geekhackers have a go before putting 'em on eBay.  What would you guys say is a fair price to ask for lightly-used, cleaned and tested Ms in very good condition?

Maybe $30 apiece since they're in good shape.

Double part keys or single?

I'd assume that these are some xxGxxxx Model Ms?

I think either way, $30 would in fact be a reasonable price. BON sells good condition 1391401s for about $30-40.

The Lexmark has the single-part keys, while the IBM has the double.  The part number for the Lexmark is 52G9700, and the part number for the other is 52G9658.

After a very thorough cleaning (full disassembly, individual cleaning of every key, cleaning of the inside tray, cleaning of the exterior plastics, etc), they look close to new.  I'll post some pics later today after I get a chance to fully test them.

I think $30 is a fair price considering the intact rivets, thorough cleaning, testing, and overall condition.  They'll be shipped in a proper keyboard box with lots of padding.

Thanks for the replies guys.  I'll probably put them up in the classifieds later today.
