Uhm, okay.

LZ buys have always been 50-70 boards, since QCing more than that on your own is a massive pain, and one of the main blocks to running a large GB

Agreed tbh. I'd rather have a smaller chance at winning one, but get a better QA output, not to mention a shorter lead time

So to confirm, FR4 plates aren’t an option?

That’s my favorite plate material on the PhysiX, so a bit surprised.

I guess CF and PC are decent. :)

I think the LZ Physix was pretty large. Maybe around 200 units.

I suspect it's because TX is helping LZ with manufacturing and/or QC since my LZ Physix shipped from TX.

Funny story - that was the plan for Physix as well, but thanks to the sudden surge in interest for ergo boards he went to sleep and woke up to 200+ orders the following morning, so he had to end the GB early, split it into batches and get some help with fulfillment.

Many quantities are subject to several variables.
Most of my productions are done myself in Korea.
(Excluding accessories such as bags, films, and stabilizers)
I prefer less than 100 because sometimes it requires a long working period.

IMO only valid concerns here are those 2 plate types, which I would agree. However just get CF or FR4 plate instead, which I can confirm are perfect.
Other valid concern is the weight.... also fixable, don't use it, which I don't. (And PC doesnt have weight anyway)

All the other stuff just seems nitpicking / preferences. As far as the price.... this is made in Korea and from a reputable designer, you can decide if that's worth it for you.

And let's not forget this mounting system is really one of the best ever.

I use this thing everyday and share these sentiments. Would add the wrist rest was a little cheap looking but it was not expensive. I don’t think anyone should be afraid to purchase.

Note I’m not saying this board is Jesus in keyboard form.

for the price, i think they are all valid concerns. weird that they just posted that today and not at the end of the physix gb

I doubt he has any insidious intent behind it :) Video wouldn't have mattered after the GB, since it is all done at that stage, there are no returns and people can try themselves. But now LZ is essentially selling the same board again, so he probably ended up doing the video now, to warn people about the issues he had.

I also used the board, and like any board, it is usable. But with shipping, extras etc. which I assume most people buy, price goes around 700$. As mentioned, to get objectively better sound, you can remove the sts weight, but then you basically paid for garbage sts part that you won't use. Why not remove the weight and make the price cheaper (and don't forget that this board is ~50$ more expensive than Physix).

LZ has some great boards (LZ MP is one of my favorite board of all time, and still looking to get it one day :D), but I don't think that should be a free pass thing, similarly being made in Korea. For example, this board shorting with sts weight if you remove the cover from weight, is a design flaw.

I am not going to get into the mounting/feel, as that is something very subjective.

I feel like there’s some list that exists with all the errors this board has and it’s 2 items long. People keep screaming to stop ignoring this list (insert spider man pointing at spider man meme), but I don’t think anyone disagrees with the list.

Look, feel and sound are subjective. I like it, it feels good on the hole. I can count the boards I’ve received that didn’t have issues with zero fingers.

I thought the Physix was a bit underwhelming as a board, especially given the price. I had a lot of the same complaints as JYMV, especially with the cheap design of the internal weight. I ended up just keeping the plastic wrap on it, but that felt like such a compromise for a board that I paid nearly $700 shipped.

I also didn't find the mounting system particularly good or bad. Someone could have told me it was top mounted and I would have believed them.

Basically, the board is "fine", but for $700, I expected more than "fine".

I reviewed the issues raised.
There are two phenomena where multiple keys are entered together.
It is caused by a short of the main MCU and a short of the switch leg.

If there is no problem with the main MCU, it is very likely a switch problem.
There are many types of switches.
Which switch did you put together?

I removed the internal weight right after assembling. It is the worst design in the Physics and I don't think that LZ should keep it in Phase.
The flat surface of the internal weight provide a lot of resonance which make Physics sound much worse compared to other LZ boards.

Anyway, after replacing the weight with a sound dampened foam, I am quite happy with the result.

Post by: King4477 on Tue, 02 March 2021, 10:02:12
I did the same actually. Physix is my favorite keeb for daily use and I've never missed the internal weight. Sounds great with 2mm foam.

Maybe the weight for the Phase should be thinner, even if just at the center row where switches are more likely to touch the weight given flex in the plate.

#. Change the defult inner plate (STS to ALU)
--> Included in all alu kit orders (except pc kits).
and
Add a replacement test sample plate (Brass,Finshed Electroless Nickel Plating)
This is for a typing test, and the finish is not good.
Brass typing feels good (extremely personal).
Total inner plate 2 type (Alu, Brass)

Did you try soldering the leds with the legs the other way around?

I did this with my PhysiX and it did the charm.

This is why I always just solder in sip sockets. That and swapping out colors.

FYI for led:

(+) = long leg
(-) = short leg

huh. Not sure why but I've never considered sip sockets for LEDs. That's a big brain move

yes, you are right. there are circle and square pads for different legs on the pcb. thanks! learnt to test the led with the pads before soldering, there is also led cutouts on the top shell so i used 2 3mm led and it fits perfectly
