Title: Custom Keyboard and wireless connectivity questions
Post by: Altain on Sat, 27 February 2021, 09:04:31

Hello to all Geekhack members,

I am seeing more wireless-supported custom boards going IC or even further to GB in the last couple of years than ever, and wants to seek out an advice from experienced users.
I think I've seen a few boards with Bluetooth 3.0 or 4.0 support, but no further to BT 5.0 or even 2.4ghz connectivity.
Can anyone explain to me pros and cons of BT and 2.4Ghz, why BT is more frequently used over 2.4 for custom boards?

What's wireless,  never heard of it.   Sounds like something that'd have alot of latency making the keyboard unusable and extremely trash only a casual would type on.

Lol, yes the latency seems to be inescapable...yet.

Another issue is software stack. Bluetooth is simply not setup for low-latency wireless input like on a game console.

The only stack that is reputed to have good wireless performance is Logitech's system, designed from the grounds up.

For wireless nothing on the market compares. this includes keyboard side as well as mice.

There are no other options if you want to have A CASUAL PC Experience.
