Title: [IC]Master98 - An 1800-compact keyboard
Post by: kawaiicheung on Wed, 03 March 2021, 17:36:22
Hello, we are Xikii Studio from China. Last year we finished an 1800mini GB and today we’re going to introduce Master98. Master98 GB has been run several times before in Chine and please let us know if you have any suggestions.

Design:
Different from the previous 1800mini which is an extension of 40% keyboard inspired by classical CHERRY G80-1800, Master98 is based on the 1800 layout and has a complete alphabet area and numpad area.
Just like 1800mini, Master98 can be arbitrary programmed up to 8 layers no matter wired or wireless, has featuring customizable RGB backlighting and underlighting.
The sunken design of plate makes the hotswap switches more stable, and this time is unlike integrated 1800mini, the plate is positioned by several O-rings to make typing feeling better and sound better.
You needn’t solder any switches and just pop them in and ready to enjoy it.

Looks Cool! Plate mount stabs are kinda meh, but that's whatever. I think the limited layout options aren't for me, as I enjoy stepped caps and split backspace, so maybe support through a solderable pcb would be a good option to look into. I also am kinda meh on wireless as I like centered usb with daughterboard, but I know that wireless will be appealing to many. Interested on the front height, and also would be interested in a thinner plate, but it looks like a pretty sick board. GLWIC!

Will it include the battery? As some other keyboards from China they don’t include batteries because they haven’t figured out how to ship them internationally.

What do you mean by several O ring? If there’s more than 1, how are they positioned? Can’t really tell from the images.

I understand that this is quite a successful keyboard in China. Is it possible to get typing test videos from previous Chinese group buys?

Sure looks like you're tired. Making conclusions without proper research ;D

definitely interested, not many boards above TKL have hotswap support. GLWIC!

I like the look of this! But I agree with a previous commenter. I would want split space support (which I assume can only be done with a solderable PCB instead of hotswap). I also would prefer PCB-mount over plate-mount stabilizers.

+1 for a soldered pcb with pcb mount stabs, split space bars, stepped caps and split backspace.
