Title: Quick review of my Unicomp PC122 after 2 months of owning it
Post by: devo343 on Tue, 20 April 2021, 11:28:11
After 2 months of owning this keyboard i think its time i give it a review. For the 1st week or so typing on it was weird and it felt like i was trying to pilot a 747. But as time went on i got used to it and now this keyboard is the only thing i want to type on. Its Incredibly tactile and satisfying to type on and my WPM have gone up quite a bit 90 from 40. This keyboard is still stock but I've put a custom IBM sticker on the top left where it would like a logo would go. But overall it is a nice farely affordable buckling spring keyboard.

Pros
1.Pretty affordable compared to the original model m's
2.Very nice to type on and tactile
3.Looks nice and stands out among other keyboards
4.Has almost no flex compared to the Classic And edurna pro
5.Heavy{I like heavy keyboards}

Cons
1.Slight QC issues {Dimple on the upper right near the locklights but not visible unless a light if flashed onto it}
2.When i got the keyboard the Backspace key and Numpad Zero key were swapped for some reason but i easily fixed this

Album of Pictures i have taken of it{The IBM sticker is aftermarket and custom}

Nice short and succinct review. That IBM badge looks great.

Welcome to the buckling spring cult.  ;D

If you ever decide to crack it open, it can be made into a pretty conventional layout in conjunction with a bolt mod:

It's amazing that Unicomp haven't made these with a more conventional layout.

They have produced an SSK-like keyboard recently, so maybe one day ...
