Title: Do O-Rings work on Dell AT102W?
Post by: spremino on Tue, 27 April 2021, 20:40:28
Do o-rings work to sound dampen a Dell AT102W? If so, do 1.5 mm o-rings have a noticeable impact? or should one get thicker ones?  Thank you.

No, O-rings don't fit on Alps.

You could replace the black stems with stems from Cream Dampened Alps or Damped Matias switches. I did that with my Dell AT102W a long time ago.
Alps switches can be opened from the top without desoldering the switches.
But do mind that the orientation of the slider matters for key feel but it can be difficult to see which is which - so by all means do mark one side with a sharpie first so you'll get them inserted the right way.

I wonder if the landing pad (https://deskthority.net/wiki/File:Soft-landing_pads_fitted.jpg) mod could be done with Alps. Landing pads are loose, not tight around the slider like O-rings.
Has anyone tried? It's a sub-par solution compared to Cream sliders, so I guess not...
