Title: Thicc TKL recommendations?
Post by: bearattack on Wed, 28 April 2021, 19:07:36
I'm looking for a thicc and heavy TKL keyboard, something along the lines of a Rama U80-A. I'm pretty new to this world of high-end keyboards. Is there anything out there available or soon to be available? I'm ok with waiting for a GB for the right endgame keyboard.

Thanks!

If you asked a month or two ago, this would be up your alley

This thick keyboard has been in stock for a long time (because most people prefer thin bezel) and just recently sold out.

Thanks for the recommendation - that is right up my alley. Alas, it looks like my timing couldn't be worse. I'll keep an eye out for more GB or restocks but any other recommendations are welcome!

I have a few of these Aliexpress cases (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32617566709.html). They're very thick and heavy, and are compatible with at least a few different TKL PCBs. I put Matias switch KBParadise V80s in mine.

Maybe "Orion V 2.5" https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=109033.0  around 2.5 Kg.
And then you can add even more weights with brass bars

Thiccer caps usually means louder return stroke.

Thiccer caps usually means louder return stroke.
Yes, but this can be mitigated various ways and thicker also means lower pitch, which tends to be considered more pleasant.

I will take a slight louder more pleasant sound than a quiet horrible sound, nothing sounds worse than cheap, thin PBT.
