Does anyone know where to get 1/16" aluminum sheet at a reasonable price? Perhaps some place in Eastern Massachusetts to which I can drive so that I do not have to pay the exorbitant shipping costs?

You'll have to google a local metal supplier that is closest to you. Otherwise check out McMaster or eBay.
