Title: Want to make a keyboard suggestions on what to get
Post by: TheLuckyKid on Fri, 28 May 2021, 10:40:45
So, I am new to this but I really want to make a custom mechanical keyboard. I've been looking for a while for what to get but I'm not really sure. I have a price range of about $250-300. I definitely want to get some healios switches (unless someone has something that sounds similar but better), and I'll find my own keycaps, but I need suggestions on what to do for the actual case and pcb. I preferably want it to be hotswappable but I do have a solder so if I have to I can do that. And, if it fits in the budget, what are some good stabs to get. I want the keyboard to be a 65%. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Also, I was wondering, with a 65% keyboard, how do you do the f commands?

Stabs wise, you can't really go wrong with durocks or everglides, either is fine
Cherry clip ins are also pretty lit along with gateron clip ins

65% board wise, can't think of any non-gb boards off the top of my head, but I know a Mark65 in the aftermarket scene might hit your fancy.
Although if we go cheaper, there always is a tofu65, kbd67 lite, portico, nk65 lite, nk65 alu

Also, don't know if I should know this already but what does non-gb mean?

something that is not in groupbuy
groupbuy is kinda like a kickstarter where the product hasn't been made yet, but you are paying cause usually in stock takes a big investment so they need prior funding
