Title: Connect Cherry G80-0499 to a modern computer
Post by: In Stereo! on Tue, 24 August 2010, 12:53:52
Is there a way? Mine seems to work (the LEDs go on/off as they should), but when I mash the keys, nothing is displayed, only after a few mashes, some random character is shown in Showkey and is repeating itself for a few seconds, then stops. This is all it does. :<

depending on how much work you want to put into it. this 3rd party controller would get the job done.

Yeah, that is something I would not be prepared to do, as I already have a Cherry black 'board, so I'm not that desperate. Will just store it for now.

Another Cherry question: what is the difference between black an white MY switches? from the outside, the construction is notably different and the black MY switches seem to be lighter, but I'm not sure if this is due to wear as both keyboard were heavly used.

Edit: Silly me, the black stemmed MY switches are actually mentioned in the Cherry switches and keyboards Wiki entry, although there is no additional info to that I already noticed myself.
