BACKGROUND
55565 is our first keyboard project designed by AMPi.KB and I, Which we aim to create a budget 65% Keyboard that has some hybrid mounting methods.

FUN FACT
This keyboard called "55565". The name came from how Thai people laughing in letters (555 means hahaha or lol). To be honest, we are just blanking out when comes to name this design so Ampi.Kb just asking his friend to name it for him. He was trying to troll him with this name with how Thai people mistook press 6 while repeatedly typing 5. So, It became 55565 which perfectly combined 555 with 65% Layout.

PROTOTYPE
First Prototype: The first three prototypes came from a different manufacturer.
Round 1 includes Lilac, Red, Dark grey anodized keyboard.
with Alu plate and 1.5 mm thickness mocking PCB (our actual PCB didn't arrive yet which will be1.6 mm)
For Bottom Mount, We have tested leaf spring flex cut. The typing experience was consistent across the entire board. The sound and feel also are amazing especially, the spacebar area which has a leaf spring and 55565 relief cut.
For O-ring Gasket Mount, We have tested with 3.5 mm Diameter O-ring with the different shore. The alpha's sound and feel were great but between the test typing, we confront a noise from Loosen mocking PCB whose cut is greater than the actual PCB.

5/7/21
- Add Plate Render
- Add more mounting render

23/7/21
Updates:
- We are waiting for proto PCB from mechlovin right now to do a final testing.
- Second proto will be made after we test everything and make change with the 3d drawing.
- We will try other Plate and Case materials on second proto (PC,Brass for SE?)
- Solder PCB will be available

Known Issues:
- Inner space of the case is too wide. We will make some change on case and plate after we test with actual PCB
- We might make some change on bottom mounting point since the screw hole ledge is to narrow for the spacer or oring

Hi guys, My name is Aom (AMPi.KB) from Bangkok, Thailand
This is my first keyboard design. We design 55565 to be the experimental case for the newcomer that recently growth in this hobby.
Testing, building, and modding your own case is what I enjoyed when I started a hobby.
But now my end-game is designing and making my own case. 55565 is just the beginning. :-*

Thanks to GEONWORKS Youtube Channel / Discord: Keyboard Atelier and Everyone who helps me along the way.

If you're interested in designing a keyboard and my other project.
My discord is always welcome.

Very clean take on a relatively simple case design, I like that you'll have an option without front engraving. The mounting on the tray/bottom mount reminds me of the Flamingo which Geon designed which I've been very interested in trying, on top of how you did the internal ledge makes me assume you based the internals off that while also adding your own contributions. The fact that it's designed to also allow for o ring mount is a very big plus for me in a market flooded with poron "gasket" 65s.

Getting prototypes from multiple different manufacturers is also something I don't see get done often enough sadly, so big props on you for getting that done. If it's sold at $250~ after thorough prototyping I'll probably grab one to try out the mounting.

Overall, interesting project that I'll be sure to keep an eye on, good job.

I like the mounting options and ability to remove the front blocker engraving. Color options are solid aswell.

I would like to see solderable pcb options with more layout support though.

Like the simple design. Would like to see some typing tests if possible with different switches and maybe a second plate option. I prefere PC over FR4 though.

Yeah :thumb: As you can see in the Special Thanks section, Geonworks is the first name.
When I started design 55565 I was always looking up for Geonworks (Special thanks to him) Flamingo 60 vdo for reference on leaf spring bottom mount likes that and want to combine it with o-ring design together as improvement in design.

The different color options are great to see for sure. Why 6.25 only though? I do really like the engraving at the bottom, it's both unique and clean enough to be a good addition to the board imo. Price is also quite competitive, GLWIC!

Most of the Specs here are based IC in Thailand. If we got enough interests here we will definitely add solder PCB to support more layout and also colors.

Will the bottom mount standoffs interfere/touch the plate if you opt for the oring gasket mount?

Will the bottom mount standoffs interfere/touch the plate if you opt for the oring gasket mount?

No, it won't touch the stand off (if the force applied was regular typing). On the other hand, if I press it too hard intentionally it will contact the standoff.

does this mean that the pcb will sit slightly lower when you use bottom mount?

Based on the cross section pics it looks like a washer is used to keep them at the same height

Yes, In cross-section we are using a washer to lift up a plate but you can use 1 mm thickness oring as well.

I love this. My wife is Thai so this is the perfect way to excuse buying an expensive metal rectangle.

I like the 555 blocker. It adds character in a sea of lookalike cases.

Would be great to be able to run bottom mount plateless, although having PC or POM half plate options is a decent alternative.

Nice to have the O ring option, too!

I'm super into this if it can be had to Canada for reasonable shipping or through a local vendor like Ashkeebs or Alphakeys.

What is your estimated buy date and fulfillment date?

Yes, we are based in Thailand (South East Asia). The vendor will be announced in near future.
Thanks for interested in our 55565.

We are waiting for the real PCB prototype which will arrive in 1-2 weeks. Currently, we are using the mocking PCB which is looser than the actual product. We are going to make the typing test video as accurate as possible when it comes.
