Title: Copper heatsink socket 7/370/462?

I was curious to get a copper heatsink that has very tall prongs, to cool off a 200 Mhz Pentium 1 in socket 7 (any fans will be discarded as the case already has a fan). Sockets 370 & 462 should be compatible.
At least, I want to know if this is possible. For fun of course.
Now one may call me insane and say a P1 200mhz doesn't need much cooling, well, if I can get it on a copper heatsink, the CPU fan won't have to do much work and it'll be a whole lot quieter (I think). It's not that loud, but the quieter the better!

The only full copper one I could find is for 462, the prongs look a little short (and I won't be using the fan).

Is your question "will this 462 heatsink dissipate enough heat from a Pentium 1 if I take off the fan?"?

yes. P1 have WAY less thermal dissipation needs than an Athlon 462. "WAY" is a scientific term, from the 90s. Besides, I have a less efficient aluminum fanless heatsink P1 - 75 with a smaller depth than that one.

On a 145 watt PSU? ouch...

I don't need it to be fast, it's specifically for old things. In theory, some of the older games need a slower CPU as they can run too fast (i.e. warcraft 1 scrolling for a quick example off the top of my head).

But since you responded, do you know of any good (quiet!) 145 watt PSUs, or maybe 200 watt ones that are compatible with ancient computers?

I definitely have used a Socket A cooler (Taisol CEK733092) on a Socket 7 K6-233.  It booted at 292MHz (a big accomplishment for the 233, a hot runner in its time, but my 233 was magic and stable at 250 and 262MHz)

The problems:

* Only coolers which use the centre tab will mount on most Socket 7 and 370 boards; most Socket A boards had three tabs and some had four boltholes.

* The mount will be super-tight, as the mount was designed for weak clamp-on sinks, not big copper bricks.
