New Commodore (http://i.engadget.com/2010/08/26/commodore-usa-announces-the-pc64-an-atom-powered-pc-in-a-replic)?

It's interesting, but without the SID Chip and all the unique qualities of the C64, it's just another x86 box.

Next.

Deja vu...

Seems like every few years now someone launches or promises to launch something with the Commodore and/or Amiga name on it.

Last time it was gaming PC's wasn't it?  Maybe those were only in Europe...

I'd like the keyboard if it had more function keys and was mechanical.
I can't remember what my Vic 20 was like.

That would make a cool little HTPC. You could hook up a wireless kbd and not have to worry about using the mushy C64 keys.

*Sigh*

Well, that's exactly the wrong way 'round. Even Commodore figured out the original case was a butt ugly mess. I do have a C64DTV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C64_Direct-to-TV), though - which you can hack into a fully functional C64  smaller than a 2.5" hard drive or a little larger if you include a screen (http://www.picobay.com/projects/2007/01/the-picodore-64-a-commodore-64-pda.html).

The Asus EEE Keyboard PC looked a lot more interesting to me.

I'd never heard of the C64DTV, cool.  Wonder if I need one?

The main problem with it is that it comes with a bunch of (25 I think)  built-in games, and most of them I don't care for. It does however contain all the firmware and connection points on the PCB (including joystick ports and PS/2 keyboard) needed to convert it to a useful dedicated C64 emulator - there's even a few mods for it to read disk images from SD cards.

Not sure if they're still available. Got mine over a year ago at the local Hi-Fi store for 15 euros.
