Title: Deck AK-B4000: Which switches?
Post by: Jalal on Sat, 28 August 2010, 21:02:12
Hi

This keyboard is a different model than the DEck 82 Ice on the Deck website.
See comparison
http://www.deckkeyboards.com/product_info.php?products_id=30 (http://www.deckkeyboards.com/product_info.php?products_id=30)
http://www.activekey.de/en/keyboards/compact-keyboards/ak-b4000-deck-backlit-gamer-keyboard (http://www.activekey.de/en/keyboards/compact-keyboards/ak-b4000-deck-backlit-gamer-keyboard) this is transparent

They say it's tactile but i don't know what they mean with that. Someone guessed that they just mean the clack when bottoming out. But there's a chance they are Cherry whites, so which is it, aynone knows?

It says 'available with linear switches only'. That's definitely not the Cherry clear's. I'm guessing Cherry blacks.

Yeah but they are not exactly the same model.

They look like the same to me.  I don't see any difference between it and the Déck.  It says it is the Déck backlit gamer board, even.  There are a few Déck resellers.  At least with the TG3s (http://www.tg3electronics.com/products/backlit/bl82), the minor differences are still obvious.

ActiveKey is a TG3 Distributor. they even carry the discontinued Deck 82 Gold :)

Too bad it uses blacks. Sure people said it before but this is a clear answer. So i have to buy the Filco tenkeyless afterall. (Cause Payment problems with the i-rocks)

Or i just buy this anyway. Is 130$ a good price for this? What is the usual price in America?

all the Deck 82 and TG3 82 use Cherry MX Black Linear switches.

if you're looking for a mechanical keyboard of the highest quality to play games with yes. the Deck 82 have a MSRP of $119.
