was shopping for a 60 board to get now, as entry into the hobby without waiting on GBs and kept coming up with KBDfans, usually Tofu. Was about to buy a kit, but wanted ANSI layout which went OOS. Aimed for Mojo60 Ember after getting told by their support it will be in stock this week.
Then spot sale for TFV2 went live, mojo60 was still OOS and after seeing ppl on their discord still asking shipping status on their mojos from drop run made me go for it. I was excited for a top mount option in a sea of filesynced.org (https://filesynced.org) tray mount clones, but now wonder if I may have overpaid ($290 after shipping+foams) compared to what may be available it this board class aside from in stock considerations.
It’s hard for me to get a clear picture of what is available, tried looking at geekhack, mechgroupbuys etc, didn’t see anything but somehow ppl in discord constantly link some amazing looking / priced boards that I have not seen before in IC/GB stages, so I’m having a bit of a FOMO moment here.

Group buys are always limited and often a one time run.
While Drop is (arguably) better, most have limited support, recourse and no guarantees and you could be waiting years for delivery or another buy to come around for that design. If ever.
As for FOMO...
probably 97% of a keyboard is in the switches, stabs and caps, the rest is mostly a slab you slide the parts into. When prepped equally identical and blindfiolded you'd be hard pressed to tell a similarly designed KBDfans from a Keycult. Did you pay almost as much as a crazy group buy board, maybe, but you have recourse, you have a support system and you know it's designed by someone who knows what the heck they are doing, not by some guy named KeebsRKool69 from Serbia and only learned Blender last week.
Enjoy your new keyboard, it will be awesome. :thumb:
