Title: Identify MX mount switches in a Chicony keyboard
Post by: norolim on Sat, 04 September 2021, 02:46:47
I posted this on another forum, but there were no guesses. Can anyone identify this one? Looks like similar to Futaba MA but there are clear differences. It might be some kind of dome with slider. It's from an unidentified Chicony keyboard.

This keyboard looks like Chicony KB-5191. I tried to check out the page about it in deskthority wiki but there is no KB-5191 variant with such switches

Pretty sure its foam with slider since with out the keycap the slider is inside the housing instead of being up. The spring pushes the keycap back up what also puts the slider up. So its not mechanical.

Thanks guys. It's not a KB-5191. Since I posted this question, I was able to identify the keyboard as a mysterious Chicony KB-5391:

Unfortunately, there is absolutely no info about it on the internets. Someone on another forum suggested the switches might be Deyi foam and foil. It is indeed very similar: the housing is identical, but the slider is a little different. Whatever the switch actually is, I agree with @sup that it probably is a foam and foil mechanism.

I'm 98% sure they're just sliders over a rubber dome membrane.   The only way to know for sure is to crack that sucker open.
