Hi everyone,
I'm new to the custom keyboard scene and am in the process of doing my first build.
I'm a huge fan of Lord of the Rings, and wanted to know if there are any keycaps that you know of that would fit a LotR theme?
Doesn't have to LotR branded, but fantasy-inspired keycaps would do too.
Any thoughts?
Which keycaps would you choose for a fantasy / Lord of the Rings theme?

There are still some smaller (non-base) sets available.

I hope that elvish set gets re-made

I do have to mention that it baffles me how someone can use these caps... there's touch typing, sure, but it's the typing of special characters in complex passwords that I don't get.

Been typing for over 30 years - I can type the symbols by muscle memory too. ;)

Get ready to freak out ...

Wow! Those are awesome, @ylothar!
Where did you get the keycaps?

Unfortunately they are not yet available, but they should be soon, you should ask the legendary matt3o :D

I'm good until I need to slow right down to enter special characters for passwords- the act of thinking about it messes up muscle memory, especially if it's the kind of situation where the account gets locked out if too many wrong answers go in.
You don't have this issue?
-
I rely a lot on muscle memory.. If it is really complex though I think maybe just write it out using the legend script until you no longer need it.

You mean there hasn't been any run yet?

Exactly, you can find all the information at the links I put and which point directly to the Matt3o blog :thumb:

I use most of them frequently, except maybe carets and tildes

I think I understand where these color choices are coming from, though IMO slight changes would help these sets a lot.
I think the elvish set would look good with a warm woody tan as the base color, to go along with that leaf green - making a wood-and-leaf color combo. This would also help the accent colors, which IMO clash hard with the base kit off-white and green. I think the autumn accent tones would work better against my woody tan base color. A stream water blue would also be a good accent color against my wood-and-leaf base kit proposal.
For the dwarvish set I do like the stone-like greys in the base set. However again the orange accent color clashes. Maybe more of a gold accent would work better?
Going to spend WAY too much money on these, either way...

BTW, I got them and they're quite nice. I'm not an MT3 fan, but the sets look fabulous so I'm using them with pleasure. We have found that the white balance (overexposed?) on Drop's sales page was misleading. The elvish alphas are a darker "aged parchment" than the sales photos, and the dwarvish keycaps are slightly more brownish than the sales photos. They still look great.
I still dearly wish the Elvish set had a light-blue "stream water" accent color spacebar, which would fit the base colors so perfectly.
