According to Wolfram Alpha (http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=1+us+dollar+1985&asynchronous=false&equal=Submit) one US dollar in 1985 is worth 2.01 dollars right now.
That would mean that the Model M's introduction price was equivalent to about $400 - $500 today. Was it worth it then?
Just a thought.

I much prefer Raymond Scott and Henson's** work on this 60's IBM advert:
"Today, there isn't enough time. Today, there aren't enough people".
Get the CD! (http://raymondscott.com/mripr.html)
** Yes, that's Jim Henson.

That is one of the strangest things I've watched all week, and Ripster's been linking a lot of weird crap lately.

But there's also Moore's law:

Which would make a model M today worth abooouuuut...

I think I know where the LOST producers got their inspiration for this brainwashing video that the "Others" used.
Oh man, I'm getting high off the internet.....
Now you just found yourself a simpler explaination when you combine the two.
