Normally I'd argue with you about calling 'em trashpads... a good trackpad can be very nice.

But the ALPS trackpad in my laptop is the worst pointing device I have ever used this side of mousekeys. So instead, I'll agree with you.

I believe the "accuracy" of input devices goes in a hierarchy like so:
#1 Mouse
#2 Trackpoint
#3 Trackball
#4 Trackpad

Although since I'm a seasoned trackpoint user, I find it easy and *almost* good as a mouse -- but someone who's better with trackballs might find the opposite, so 2 & 3 could be swapped I guess.

Oh ch..... you probably don't even use trackpads. They *are* the most inaccurate input device around. Unless you're into fingerpainting or something...

I'm not sure about your hierarchy. Trackballs can be extremely accurate.

Did you all notice how Caps Lock and the Control, Alt, etc. are arranged on the keyboard?

I know some folks seem to like 'em, or have become accustomed to them anyway, but I've never met one I liked.  If I get a new laptop with a trackpoint and trashpad , first think I do is disable the pad.

I hate track-points with a passion.  They wear out so quickly, and using them becomes painful really fast.  mouse>track-ball>track-pad>track-point.  Track-pads are nice, because you can use them with many different hand positions, so there's less risk of RSI.

No. Trackpads are very inaccurate (not to mention they get nasty wear on them). I've had my trackpoint nib for three years, it's not worn out at all...

Trackpoints are 90% more accurate than a trackpad. I can actually play games with it, a trackpad is as useful as a roll of toilet paper.

Wah?  Is that a statistic, or an EIBMism?

You silly girls and your pads vs. tampons arguments...
