I have always found the Voynich Manuscript to be a fascinating document. Regardless of its questioned authenticity, this document dates back to the 15th century and has long been a topic of discussion for its art, unknown origins, and cryptographic puzzle. Can we have a 2nd base kit with the alpha voynich sublegend plus the novelty mods?I will be taking a look at the IC form responses to finalize the alpha and mod kitting but likely not. I suspect that will be a less popular combination, I do not want to create too many base/alpha/mod kits, and this should be a fairly affordable set as-is even if you buy base + novelty mods.

I had decided against such a kit for a couple of reasons:
1. the complexity, aesthetic, and issues from trying to place the tertiary (and on some keys quaternary) legends required for this set to have a NorDE kit
2. the existence of the mono voynich alphas serve as a kind of agnostic alpha set such that language configurations not explicitly supported here are at least not forced to use literally incorrect keys

Design and aesthetic are both out of this world.
I do have a concern though - how confident are you that Milky Way's dye sub can handle the intricacy of this set? They're obviously new on the scene, and have shipped a couple of basic sets but nothing this complex. It'd be sad to see all the fantastic design work lost to sloppy dye sub.

Can mw use different colored base plastic to avoid 5 sided dyesub? I enjoy the base kit quite a bit but we've all seen the woes of 5 side from every manu thus far. nice set.

Great question. I definitely had concerns about the ability to properly execute the novelty mod dyesub. I confirmed before deciding definitively on using MW that they can and will provide samples before end of GB. We are shooting for having them before GB even starts but there may need to be a little wiggle room there. They seemed confident in their ability to execute these novelties though, and samples before GB are what I need to put my own mind at ease. I'm sure that helps others as well.

Thanks a lot for not including punctuation symbols in the voynich alphas kit! (And going for novelties for the whole kit). As a non-US user, it’s quite annoying when a set goes totally original… except for punctuation symbols, which suddenly makes it US-only, even though it’s not supposed to.
Arg, I didn’t want to add another set to the list of GBs I’m waiting for, but this one looks amazing (and I love the concept).
I totally agree, even as a US keyboard user I dislike when standard punctuation symbols break the aesthetic consistency of a themed alpha kit. Thank you for the kind words!

IMO all the modern-looking arrows should be removed from the "voynich mods" set. They are not in the style of the manuscript and clash with the script of the keyset, and nobody needs them to find shift/enter/tab/backspace anyway.

Thank you everyone for your feedback on the set, the support means a ton to me! Based on feedback, here are the kitting changes I've made
- One of the biggest pieces of feedback were people that did not like having to buy a base kit just for mods/alphas they wanted. After discussion with Milkyway, they've agreed to let this set run with no base kit! All alpha and mod kits are separate, so you can buy exactly what you want and no more. What was Base Kit is now Voynich Sublegend Alphas and Icon Mods.
- 2x 1.5u supers and a second 1u alt were missing from Icon Mods, those have been added.
- R4 1u Fn is now icon instead of text to reflect the row its typical use on the shift row and be more consistent with those icons.
- 1u shift key added to novelty mods.
- 2x 1.5u minibars added to spacebar kit.
- Moderate 40s support has been added to icon mods. It should accommodate the most popular staggered 40s layouts. Note that the Voynich mods and Novelty mods should support all staggered and ortho 40s layouts.
- Because of the above kits, the standalone 40s mod kit has been axed.
- 6.25u and 7u spacebars have been moved from mod kits to alpha kits.

One C-tier suggestion - consider adding a second non-stepped R3 1.75 key to the novelty mod kit. That would allow coverage of 2x non-stepped boards, or a single non-stepped board and a 12u/13u 40%. This is honestly a pretty minor change so if it's pushing the price too high it's definitely not a deal breaker.

Well, I would not call QAZ popular. Still rather niche. But r2 1.25u mold doesn't exist for MW so it is what it is.
All spacebars are convex, none of them are concave.

I thought I'm quite done with GMK (with 24+ months lead time...) and not being able to do triple-shot nor those fancy things achievable via reverse- and multi- dyesub.
Now seeing this and some other ICs, I think year 2022 is a super challenge year for my wallet amidst the never-ending pandemic...

* the legends are a bit bolder in reality than in the pic
* as you can see, this set is not reverse dye-sub
* MilkyWay has done scientific color matching within fantastic tolerances, and I can confirm myself that the colors look damn near perfect IRL

let me say that it is fanstastic to have samples before the GB starts, kudos to you and to MW
i do have two concerns:
1 - the color of caps are a little leaning towards gray, and the renders a little more towards yellow. i prefer the color in renders but its not a big deal specially since the color/hue of the samples have old paper/manuscript vibe
2 - the green needs to be just slightly lighter/brighter. it is too dark (compare the lower left cap to its render). again compared to the renders which i like better. This ome i feel more strongly about. the lighter green is prettier and more eye catching and makes the flowers more beautiful, also this is dye sub so changing the green should be easy, right?

There are so many factors that go into what a keycap is going to look like in a photo - the camera, the post-processing, the lighting in the space the photo is taken in. Not to mention that most computer monitors and phone screens that will be used to look at the photo have not been color calibrated, and whatever compression Imgur does for hosting.
As I mentioned, this photo is not adjusted to be completely color accurate. This set has set Pantone colors. Those Pantone colors were used by the renderer, and were also used with a photospectrometer to ensure that the colors in the samples were as close to accurate as possible. The tolerances for these colors are very tight and have been validated. So we've done everything we can to ensure that this set's colors are as-advertised and accurate.

- Kitting is finalized, made one last adjustment where numpad mods are in the mod kits and the numpad kit is only the numpad alphas. Not the most elegant solution but when you have three sets of numpad mods and two sets of numpad alphas, it's hard to figure out what goes where.

Exciting update! I've received samples for Voynich from MilkyWay! The alignment, colors, and legends all look stellar. Some notes:
* the color of the caps is slightly warmer in the pic than in reality
* the legends are a bit bolder in reality than in the pic
* as you can see, this set is not reverse dye-sub
* MilkyWay has done scientific color matching within fantastic tolerances, and I can confirm myself that the colors look damn near perfect IRL

Resin artisan collaborations usually are not made before group buy starts, that's why it's best to just follow the makers you're interested in to see when they're ready. The metal artisan collaborations were finalized this past week so I'm just going to include renders of them when the Group Buy post goes live on Monday.

I’d honestly appreciate if we could see the metal artisans beforehand as well since it is a investment for most of us and we would want to know what we are looking forward to. also i’m new to the hobby and maybe thats not how it works i’m just really interested in this set and want to make sure my investment is in the right place since i want to buy at least one artisan to complete the keeb.
Of course. As I said, the metal artisans will have renders provided at the start of group buy. This is an unlimited, month-long group buy so you will have plenty of time to take your purchasing options into consideration.
