Title: IBM model M keyboard: SHIFT key doesn't click
Post by: MrJeffersonJackson on Tue, 28 December 2021, 10:31:48
I bought an IBM model M(42H1292) keyboard(never used before, in box) from the year 1996, but the left side SHIFT key doesn't do the click sound as the other keys do. Also: I must press a bit hard this key to make work this thing. Any idea what's wrong with this key? Here a video: https://files.catbox.moe/bc9ic0.mp4

The video makes it seem like re-seating the spring should fix it

^ yeah totally, if you pull off the cap (both caps if it's a two piece) you'll see there is a little "nib" where the buckling spring needs to sit.  It's pretty easy to install the cap wrong and have the spring not line up correctly thus no click.
