Title: DisplayWriter Keyboard - 1982
Post by: HaaTa on Fri, 10 September 2010, 13:49:12
Just got this in the mail today. :D

Dunno what I'll do with it yet, sorta an impulse buy. Cost me next to nothing when I look at all the other stuff I've bought this year...

One keycap is missing...
Oh well, the auction said there were two missing :D

Woo, back in Canada! Probably since 1982...

That black rubber sheet covering the board under the keycaps has some serious deterioration issues, and almost seemed to be melting in the sun...though that was probably just some oil of sorts.

And yes the deck is actually purple...just here for a few days.
Once I have a bit more time I'll do a full dismantle to clean it and take some pictures.

Those beam spring switches are the bomb.  Nice score.  Mine was made in 84.
I pulled it apart and removed most of the rubber mat that goes over the switches, but I was afraid to pull the caps to remove it completely for fear of cracking the caps - they're pretty brittle.
