1. Introduction
Pomelo is designed to be The Universal Minivan Keyboard. Pomelo utilizes the open source plate design from the Coriander (https://trashman.wiki/en/cases/coriander) and Hull (https://trashman.wiki/cases/hull) keyboards, designed by trashman, as well as some usb-c to jst trickery to enable compatibility with most existing minivan pcbs.

Compatible Van PCBs:

Low Rider, TKC Minivan HS, JetVan, Ketch, BigBoi, Airport Shuttle, GetawayVan, Lesovoz, Minibaen, Minisub, Model-V, Omnibus, Taco Truck, Wanten, and m3n3van

Not Compatible Van PCBs:

TheVan44, Sketch, and Ice Cream Truck

There was discussion about the pen scratching the face of the insert, but the pen rests on the chamfered edges of the case rather than the face of the insert.

This looks nice. I still regularly type on and enjoy my Ristretto.

Some questions:

What's the value of having a second pen insert - are they different colours or something?

I assume that the pen rail's ends will be rounded, as in renders / Rev 2 proto, not squared as in Rev 1, correct?

Is it possible to select preferred plate type during kit purchase, as opposed to buying an extra and then having to throw away yet another unwanted FR4 plate?

Any photos of the bottom of the keyboard?

Extra pen inserts will be the same colors; having an extra is always useful with an extra top and if the insert ends scuffed or damaged it can be swapped out easily.

Yes, the production pen rails' ends will be rounded like the renders and rev 2 prototype.

Yes, I've attached a picture of the bottom here with a rev 1 prototype - it is simple with an engraving of "pomelo" in the center.

Update

Changes:
Compatible pcbs:
   + TKC minivan HS

Pricing:
   GB kits : $290 -> $260
   Extra PCBs : $35 -> $30
   Extra Plates : $25-60 -> $15-60

Major changes:
   PCB and Plate are no longer included in the base kits - this is a decision made because many people already have van pcbs/plates and would opt to have a lower priced board that would not include a pcb/plate that would go to waste.
   PCBs will still be offered alongside during the GB and at a slightly reduced price.

On Fruitykeeb website, there was a picture (render?) featuring the underglow state of a Pomelo keyboard (contrary to the photos show for the prototype):

This is a render of upcoming PC bottom and pen insert planned for future rounds, noted in the renders section below the picture. This IC (consider this R1) will only be Aluminum bottom pieces and the bottom piece files will not be made public.
