Title: Great Hole
Post by: tp4tissue on Sat, 05 February 2022, 12:55:03
Finally took the time to cut a proper tv-hole for the 120mm fan on the psu side.

This is a 5" hole,  4 or 4.5 would've been better, but only the 5" hole-saw was on sale.

TV runs much cooler now. No more metal expanding/contracting noises.

The plastic plate is so flimsy that cutting a hole makes little difference. it's not really what holds up the tv, the metal frame that it's bound to supplies nearly all the rigidity.

Which came first - the desire to cut a hole in your TV or finding a 5" hole saw on sale?

Which came first - the desire to cut a hole in your TV or finding a 5" hole saw on sale?

Upon buying this "particular" tv, the desire to cut hole was immediate, Tp4 realized right away that its led heat diffusion is too localized in the base frame.

For a long time Tp4 used 2x 120mm blowing into the small slits in the back, but this is not ideal given the distance and lack of pressure.

The 5" hole saw was a recent acquire, at which point there was simply no excuse to be lazy.
