Title: HiFinger 7.5 Foams/Gaskets/O-Rings?
Post by: rcaldejr on Sat, 02 April 2022, 01:46:29
Hey everyone!

I recently picked up a secondhand HiFinger 75 and am very interested in the layout. However, I am having a hard time finding additional pieces that the seller did not send, and says he does not have.

Unless they changed the foams that came with the board, I seem to be missing the foam that goes between the PCB and the plate, as well as the O-Rings that screw in between the PCB and the plate. The case foams that go under the PCB seem to not fit 100% correctly either as only about 98% of the foam cutouts lineup with the rest of the board.

Does anyone have an idea on where I may be able to source these foams? I also am looking for 2mm gaskets that I can use to replace what was originally installed. It looks like there was no care whatsoever when the board was built and it's honestly a little hard to look at. I just haven't seen 2mm gaskets anywhere.

Ideally I'd get the original foams that were designed for the board, but I have a feeling my chances are slim. Either way, thank you for reading, and I am open to advice/constructive criticism and overall would love to know how to do more effective research on how to find parts.

Appreciate it!

Any small production run group buy keyboards is slim to none chance to find replacement parts. Unless someone on mechmarket has bought extras and is willing to sell those parts. Or you have to hope the designer has some extras. You can DIY some stuff but, gasket sheets aren't cheap.

Is there a place one can look to buy gasket sheets? Seems like the gasket sizes for this keyboard are not a common size?

I reached out to the designer but have not heard back. I would mainly like to get gaskets replaced though since the previous owner did not do a good job with it.

i would recommend the d65 gaskets, very thick but not sure if they are the correct size

Thanks for the reply!

Looks like the gaskets for the HiFinger are 2.5mm and the D65's are 3mm. I've never experimented with gaskets, but the 2.5mm gaskets are already pretty tight, so I wonder if the 3mm would be too tight and take away from that soft gasket feeling.

On the off chance anyone else happened to be looking for gaskets/foam for the HiFinger 75, looks like they've put some extras on their website. Not sure how much they've got inventoried.
