Title: Drop DCX Keycaps announced (appears to be GMK Clone)(formerly MT2)

Thoughts?  I will be buying WoB and BoW.  I'd love to see some differentiation with the legends.  They look like a 1:1 lift from GMK.  Specifically I don't like the Modifier legends.  I prefer icon legends like GMK 9009: https://omnitype.com/products/gmk-9009-round-3

I can't really say anything about the profile until people have started getting sets in person. So far it does look like a cherry clone, it could just be a cherry clone with no modifications. Want to see if they'll release molds for other versions of mods and subs. New Doubleshot abs can always be questionable depending on the mold quality.

Looks like they added some more info: https://drop.com/talk/107023/much-ado-about-mt2

Most critically, we’ve used advanced double-shot injection molding machines and tools to provide the sharpest, crispest legends around. We’re working within tolerances of 0.05 millimeters, and we continually tweak and refine our processes to ensure the highest levels of accuracy. The following is an example of the design process we use to achieve high quality legends - inaccuracies are highlighted and adjusted in subsequent tooling iterations.

Not all ABS plastics are created equal. Different raw material ratios in ABS blends will change specific material properties. MT2 keycaps are made of the same high-quality ABS plastic that make up MT3 double-shot keycaps. That means you can expect the same color vibrancy and shine resilience that so many have come to love. The manufacturing process that we're using is expected to be compatible with PBT as well—so once we've gotten our ABS production humming along, we'll be experimenting with PBT to see what we can come up with.

Interested to see what they can do with PBT if anything.

With Drop's history of starting a hypetrain for each product and overpricing so many things that are relatively standardized, I feel a bit turned off by it. Maybe if they release some actual keycap set's that aren't super basic or clones I might look into it but I would rather not support or buy Drop products for now.

I don't like they called it MT2 - it doesn't make sense.
MT3 was taken from the designer, Matt3o, as far as I recall. MT2 makes no sense to me.

I second this, I feel the name of a profile should be one of two things: either homage to the designer, or describing the profile somehow

Well FWIW I just ordered DCX WoB which includes numberpad for ~80 bucks - I guess I am buying keycaps from the wrong place because GMK sets are usually ~130 even without numberpad support.

For those complaining about the name - the outrage bandwagon already came and went - you're a little late  :p It's called DCX now (Drop Cylindrical X) which is probably inspired by SP DCS and less descript than that...

Still eager to see people get dcx sets in person, so far I've just got gmk wob from them, its not much more, but I know what I'm getting

^ Yeah agreed - I am hoping they can live up to their own hype in terms of quality.  Same goes for the RAMA CAPS.  It's great having more than one (or two if you include SP) options.  I'd also love to see a whole new kind of keycap we havn't seen yet (dunno what that would be).
