I have been working on a keyboard case for a while and finally, the first build is here. This is a work in progress and I'll be sharing further updates soon.
Currently working on repositioning the left mounted USB-C port using a universal USB-C daughter board which can help move the position elsewhere and I'm confused about the best placement from community standards - (left/centre/right).
It would be great to hear your feedback and thoughts to make improvements while reaching the final build.
I'm also planning on designing the case to be compatible and versatile with other PCBs like Epomaker EP84, RK84, Keycool 84, Vortexgear Race 3, Akko 3084 and Drevo Excalibur. This way, I can switch the keyboards and yet have the same comfort case.
Current Specs:
Category: Case with USB reroute daughterboard
Typing angle: 7 degrees
Material: Aluminum
Mounting structure: Tray mount
Connection: Wired and wireless (Bluetooth)
Assembled weight: 1.7kg

how exactly have you mounted the assembly into that case?
-
Using Male-Female stand off/spacer..

Using Male-Female stand off/spacer..
you mean tray mount?
-
Yes, just the way keychron or tofu cases are.. any problem with that?
-
Keychron Q2 QMK Custom Mechanical Keyboard (https://www.keychron.com/products/keychron-q2-qmk-custom-mechanical-keyboard)
Yeah here's the problem
-
Due to gasket mount? It doesn't support wireless/bluetooth.. Plus no 3rd party/other PCB support.
-
Are you making Tofu84 (https://kbdfans.com/collections/tofu84/products/tofu84-hot-swap-75-mechanical-keyboard-diy-kit?variant=39763580551307) with thicker bezel? You can also change KBD75RGB PCB for BT75 (https://keygem.store/collections/pcb/products/bt75-75-bluetooth-pcb) and its wireless.
-
Aiming for something like that.. Multi-PCB compatibility. Something of your taste?
-
are you planning on changing the side profile to something or are you going to keep it as just a wedge?
-
Planning some custom work.. Do you have anything in particular in mind?
-
is it a rectangle with a 7 degree slant on the inside rather than the whole case being a wedge or is that just the keycaps? also is there a projected price. Also what is the plan for the daughterboard is it just going to be a usb-c extension cable or is it going to be an actual aio3 daughterboard cause i dont think any of those keyboards have actual daughterboard support also whats performance on the bluetooth cause that is a lot of aluminum

Bezels are far too thin for me. They have to be at least an inch, or go home I say!
-
It's actually 7 degree tilt just like KBD75 or Tofu case.
Price will totally depend on number of backers but mostly should fit in the budget just like any other after market case prices are..
I'm working on a custom reroute daughter board to reposition the usb c port on top left.
Don't worry I'm gonna trim the bezels and weight down.. Bluetooth should work fine

Hmm.. Currently they are 10mm from all the sides.
Still thin? I'm curious to know what are you using right now ;D

20mm then we'll talk! lol ;)
Modern M0110. Vintage M0110, Saturn60, Grid 650, Space-trek, Monarch, Piggy, with Polygon65 on the way, you know bra, BIG bezel bltches!
Oh! and i plan on getting the CA66 next round, Command65, and Modern F.

Noted 👍🏻
I'll keep you posted on the improvements 😇
