PBTFans Shakudō


Welcome Enthusiasts:
I'm happy to introduce my first set to you all, PBTFans Shakudō!


INSPIRATION:
This two-toned hiragana set takes simple inspiration from the colours surrounding the irogane (coloured metal) Shakudō. This ornamental copper-gold alloy has been used to decorate nihontō fittings and fine wares over Japan's storied history and is renown for its unique black patina.

Shakudō's black colour is achieved through the 'niiro' (boiled/cooked colour) patination process, where the original bronze-red Shakudō alloy is boiled in a typically seafoam blue-green solution! A curious side note is that Shakudō has garnered a colloquial name 'Crow Copper’ (カラスドウ) due to sometimes resembling the black-indigo sheen of crow feathers.

Love this color scheme. Some kitting feedback:

Base Kit
* you have an unnecessary second tilde key on R1
* the lack of a sublegend on R4 ISO > < is kind of odd

Alt Alphas
* R2 pipe key should be 1.5u not 2u
* if you don't add a sublegend to the base kit > < you should remove the key from this kit

40s
* R3 1.5u function is unnecessary
* add a second 1.75u spacebar

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

The lack of a sublegend on R4 ISO > < in the basekit is sadly due to the whole kitting mold that PBTFans uses. I can bring it up to see whether this can be a changed from their current set up though?

As it stands with the 40s kit, adding the 1.5U function isn't extra money due to the mold pre-existing :) The 1.75u spacebar would be a cool addition, but i'd have to check if it adds additional cost.

The rest of you suggestions though make a lot of sense though. I'll amend these in the current kits

I've now included an extra question in the IC form to better understand what modifiers people who are interested in the set want. For now it will be default as icons.

At the moment it looks likely that I'll change the kitting of the spacebars to copper coloured 6.25u and 7u. Thanks for the point out, it makes sense

IIRC for PBTfans Basin they just ended up running a separate icon mods kit, so maybe do that for whichever version (text or icon) gets fewer votes in IC form, with the base kit containing whichever has more votes?

Please use PBT for this set. There is enough ABS in the world. The shine averse don't have many options for high quality keycaps like Shakudō.

doubleshot pbt from pbtfans shines just as fast as abs, it is not 100% pbt like a dyesub set
