With the release of our plateless 75% (HEX.4B) almost a year ago, we are happy to finally bring you the next iteration of our signature plateless o-ring mount in a smaller form-factor.

Introducing, the HEX.3Cv2
The 3Cv2 aims to harken back to the days where a humble PCB was all you needed for a great keyboard.

Plates? Never heard of em’
3Cv2 features a 1.2mm PCB (Powered by Mechlovin’) that sits on 8 Viton O-rings, spaced out evenly across its surface area.
This method of mounting makes a plate unnecessary, while providing a comfortably flexible typing experience.

Simplicity
Great effort was taken into making the assembly process as hassle-free as possible. The same no-frills approach was taken with the design aesthetic.
However, with no visible seams and a material contrast to boot, we consider this to be a visual upgrade from our first iteration of the 3C (https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=104597.0), 2 years ago.

Compatibility
Even though this board is designed to be PCB-mounted, it is compatible with most universal 60% plates that are in the market.
This opens the option for further tuning of your 3Cv2.
Alps fans, rejoice! The PCB for 3Cv2 will be alps compatible too.
MX/Alps compatible plates in limited layouts will be sold along with the kit during GB.

Underglow
Aside from providing a distinct sound signature, the sandblasted polycarbonate bottom case also provides great diffusion for some tasteful (or not) underglow RGB action.
Regardless of your preference, there will be 20 RGB LEDs under the PCB at your disposal. Use them as you please.

The only con for me is lack of weight, I'm not the biggest fan of PC casing.

damn, this rocks. pcb mount is great and you can't go wrong with a mechlovin pcb. alps compatibility is the cherry on top; at this price there's no reason not to grab some extra pcbs and maybe do an alps build down the road.

+1. This hobby is wasteful enough already, I really don't want to have to buy a WK top and store that somewhere that will never be used. If possible please consider selling hhkb and wkl variants instead of additional tops. :thumb:

We're definitely looking into that. Our initial intention was to be able to hit the MOQ easily for a single layout, while offering other layouts should people request them.
However with feedback in the IC and in the form, we're getting quotes from the factory to see if we are able to do all three layouts while keeping the 159USD target price point :)

Would prefer a alu bottom and after seeing pics of the usb fallen off of a 4b in the hex discord. It makes me nervous, I’ve had **** luck and had 2 usb ports just fall off of 2 diff pcbs on gasket mount boards. I feel like a daughterboard should be added especially for plateless gasket mount

I gotta read posts more carefully lol, didn't see it didn't have a DB. That's an insta dealbreaker for me. Sitting this one out.

Hey, if I wanted one of these for a Katana60 or other custom 60% layout, could you provide the measurements for the PCB (or an outline footprint)?

And how much would it cost, if it were possible?

A number of my Katana60s are platelets and they feel great, but I’m intrigued by a plate less build WITH gaskets.
