DETAILS ON MOUNTING STYLES
As it was said above you will be able to mount the board either top mount, or PCB mount. Top mount is pretty self explanatory. I was asked for a more traditionally sounding and feeling mounting for the board and top mount was the obvious candidate. As for PCB mount, this is where things get interesting:
During my testing as well as all 40 participants of R0 we concluded that for some, the alphas sounded great but the mods were lacking a bit. Especially those who tend to prefer deeper sounding mods. What we did was try half plates. This allows us to keep the same tone on the alphas, and make the mods sound fuller, like a more traditional mounting style.

What the hell is a support plate?
The support plate is just a straightforward tray-style plate that goes over the PCB mount PCB to tune the feel of the board. Basically there are 4 levels of flex:
- Completely plateless
- PCB mount with POM half plate
- PCB mount with Aluminum half plate
- PCB mount with Carbon fiber half plate
The aim of this is to allow people to tune the overall feel of the board, as well as the sound of the mods to their personal preference. Those who want a traditional board, can just build it top mount. I have spent hours testing, building and rebuilding my prototype with different plates and I have not had this much fun in a hot minute. Plate files will also be released so people can go ham customizing their boards. :thumb:

SALE INFORMATION
- Soft-capped open Group-Buy. Tentatively July 1st 2023
- MSRP: Starting at $375 for anodized gray version, $380 for powder coated beige
- Only 2 colors will be made: beige and dark gray, both with copper weights
- Price for top-mount kit and all other accessories is being calculated. We want to make sure it's as well priced as we can. All plates sold will be ANSI only but the PCBs support ISO.
IMPORTANT NOTE
Building on this: EloquentClicks as the European Vendor will be offering ISO plates for top mount and/or support plates for PCB mount. These will be completely separate from the group-buy and will not be available in other regions, only at EloquentClicks. They will still ship with the Group Buy but they are limited to European sales, since that is where people who use ISO will order from.

November 17th Update :
Overall project updates:
- Beige prototype has arrived, I have built it and all tolerances are perfect, will upload pictures of internals within the coming days (not home for thanksgiving break)
- R0 units are expected early December, once they arrive and I have completed QC the sale for the extras will happen.
- Discussion with vendors is ongoing, but EU/NA have been agreed, information to follow.
- I have added a Topre drop-in kit for Leviatán. Both MX and Topre will be supported with the same case. MX will be plateless as originally intended Topre will be top mount with an FR4 plate.
December 5th update
All the closed group buy units have shipped to me, I should be receiving them this week. Once I have quality checked them all I will compile a list of the available extra units to be sold. Because I do not have the infrastructure to use fancy raffle sites I will just compile the entries on a google forms and invoice the respective winners. My goal is to have the main boards out of my house before Christmas, with the extras sale happening once everyone has received their unit and there are no issues anywhere.
I will keep a fairly large amount of PCBs stocked up so that those with a need for more PCBs can get one. Sagrada is delivering Q1 2023 as well, with the PCB being shared across both projects. This was done to make sure borked PCBs can be replaced easily and cheaply.
I am working with vendors to secure the final group buy information, and I have already implemented topre to the design. More information to come soon.

I have no doubt about your professionalism and seriousness. I just have the strongest dislike for mkeu, their business practices and their customer service (or lack thereof), which is why I decided to skip the sagrada even if I loved everything about that board. happy to hear you're also running things without third parties :thumb:

yes mkeu is a bad vendor, but having a vendor is still helpful in most cases, primarily to the buyer, especially in regards to high shipping costs and customs fees (not event counting vat).

While I cannot dictate your preferences when it comes to vendors, what I can tell you (and everyone, by extension) is that I do not just design and dump, I coordinate everything from the beginning of the design to fulfillment. I cannot control things like customer support, VAT prices and other aspects but what I can do is make sure on my side things are smooth and efficient. From coordinating with manufacturers, sending units to be showcased, making sure parts arrive on time so there are no delays to simple things like making sure files are delivered quickly, etc.
If you like what I design, trust me to make sure things move smoothly and do not let prior experiences with vendors (positive or negative) push you away or sway your decisions. I will make sure to manage things in the same way I managed the private group buy, so things come on time. I am very picky with things so any vendor that I work with is one I have set clear expectations with and with whom I know I can deliver a good product. As always, I appreciate the trust!

Been enjoying my R0 unit from the moment I received it, probably my most used board for the past few months, can only recommend.
It sounds amazing with ergo clears, eager to maybe try adding an half plate as the mod might be the only thing that doesn't sound excellent on my unit

My favorite is 100% PCB mount with POM half plate. It's absolute bliss.

This was my goal with the project. Bring an interesting board that you can spend hours tinkering with at an affordable price. It is not budget by any definition but I am happy with the price we achieved.
We are still working on finalizing pricing information for extra PCBs, support and top mount plates and other miscellaneous things.

The number of SKUs is already pretty high due to all the support plates, so unfortunately not. That being said, soldering nowadays is pretty painless if you get good solder and a half decent iron. It took me like 2 sockets to get the hang of it, it is not scary at all!

I was mostly wondering because the stock PCB doesn't support split spacebars. It's pretty reasonable not to support it since it's such a niche use case but I'd appreciate it if you provided files for the PCB so you could make your own, is that something you're planning on doing?
Really cool board btw, would love to get my hands on one if I'm able to financially when the group buy starts :thumb:

Like I told someone else on discord, if you want a unit, you can get a unit. Just stay up to date with the GB dates and you should be good to go! Tentatively it is scheduled for July 1st, but if anything changes CannonKeys will let me know so I can pass the information along :D

Allow me to go on record and say that I will never, in a million years give an ounce of business to mykeyboard.eu again. So yes, thank you for supporting the project, I have always wanted to help bring projects to the EU. Just wanted to clear a misconception. Topre will not be supported this round. The project had already been nearly finalized and we decided to forego topre for the time being. Please refer to the information on the page for more details on compatibility :D

No. The JST position is different + there are clearance issues with some walls. I will have PCBs in stock as well as CK and other vendors to cover any duds, or people wanting more. No need to worry about PCB shortages.

I can tell you from experience that mill-max even with a full plate, if your plate doesn’t fit your switches tightly enough you can have issues with lots of switches pulling out when changing keycaps. For me personally I would never mill-max a plateless or half-plate build. I think the fact that boards intended to be built this way don’t offer hotswap further backs this up.

Yeah absolutely. I had to be very clear that it is NOT supported, even tho some designers have begun doing it; its very unsafe. One keypress at an angle and away goes the switch. As for the keycap set send a ping to @zetina on my server, he can tell you!

I love the aesthetics of the Leviatán. I've tried to get used to 60% but accessing arrow keys through layers slows me down. Is there a possibility of a 65% version in the future?
