Title: Anne Pro 2 Project - I key unresponsive and top row registering adjacent keys
Post by: warmspirits on Sun, 30 October 2022, 15:15:06
For my first keyboard and first soldering project I am choosing to mod it with hot swappable 7505 Millmax sockets and have successfully (at least physically) desoldered the stock switches and installed the sockets. I had a little trouble with x but it works fine now. The I key is unresponsive however I read that bridging a key might help and so I used tweezers to connect the pin to the same pin on 7(or 8, can’t remember) and it worked fine. However I don’t know which wire to use or where to buy from. Any suggestions? And I’m very puzzled about the top row (ESC - BCK) where every key pressed also registers the right key, so ESC also registers 1, 1 also registers 2 etc all the ay to = registering BCK. No idea what’s happened here, i’ll get pictures of the PCB of the top row however I’m not at home right now. Attached is the I switch. Thanks !

From what I can see it's the pad connected to the diode that looks broken so try using tweezers between the other pad and the bottom of the diode.  If that works you need to solder a short wire to the diode - it's not as scary as it sounds.

What wire?  Common sources are network cables and old hard drive cables but really any wire that's thin enough will do, it wont be thinner than the traces on the PCB.

A nice big pic of the back of the board will hopefully make sense of your adjacent key problem so please do post it.

Ah okay, found myself some wire so will attempt now. Here’s a pic of the back and some close ups :) thank you for helping

Oh dear.  I can make out that the diodes are connected in columns and can trace some back to the chip but nothing that would explain each switch activating the adjacent one.  Very long shot but here is a strange mark next to the white patch with 3 in it - is that damage or just smudged writing?

hmm it could’ve been that. What I did was just add more solder to all the joints (they were quite lacking actually) so now they all work fine, same thing for a newfound bug (smashing keys resulted in caps lock lol)  and now they’re all reseated it works perfect, even got I working :) Just finished lubing the switches today
