Title: need advice please
Post by: temple03 on Fri, 01 October 2010, 16:40:16
Hi guys! This is my 1st post into this forum and I'm a noob when it comes to mechanical keyboards. Basically I've been using notebook keyboards for 8 years and finally bought a proper gaming rig. I bought a MS comfort curve when I bought 1st bought my rig; it sucks, keys are mushy, key profile too low and clearly affecting my game play and typing. So I did some keyboard shopping and decided that instead of getting a $100 gaming keyboard, my friend recommended me to get a much useful mechanical keyboard(a la Pro gamers:cool:)
My question is... are there any cherry brown keyboards that has multimedia keys like play, pause, volume up and down? Or are there any software that can macro regular keys to adjust volume and play pause stop?
I've done research and from what I saw cherry brown suits my preference. I looked online and I saw only the Adesso mkb-135b and the Razer Black Widow that carries multimedia keys but they all are cherry blues. I also looked at the deck keyboards but they are just too ugly for me.
I'm so used to multimedia keys because of convinience and will be hard to let go.
Thank you geekhackers! I am open to all suggestions. Please Help.

I don't know of any Cherry Brown keyboards out there that have media keys, but I know that Xarmour have a Cherry Blue one, and the Razer BlackWidow (pretty much the same thing) does.

There's alot of software out there that you can use to make your own media keys. One program thats a favorite around here is AutoHotKey, which I use.

I've got several mod ideas too but first I want to see what the douchebags at OCN say. (http://www.overclock.net/computer-peripherals/836200-need-advice-multimedia-keys.html)

And Welcome to Geekhack!

Why are they douches? haha
